DP 5.1 / Intel MacBook - Major MIDI Problems!

Post by xylopunk »

I am running (or trying to run) DP 5.1 on a MacBook. I am suffering from serious MIDI Latency with the MIDI Patch Thru function, and with MIDI Recording.

With the MIDI Patch Thru set to "Sync Rec. MIDI to Patch Thru", any live playing of my controller is delayed and innacurate - quite badly. Anything played quickly is totally screwed.

When I set the MIDI Patch Thru to "Core MIDI Patch Thru", the live playing then sounds accurate, and the MIDI response is as it should be. HOWEVER, when I then record my MIDI playing (when set to "Core MIDI Patch Thru"), it records innaccurately, the notes are rythmically inncorrect upon play back. Sounds good going in - live playing, but the recorded version is all messed up.

So, in short, I am having no luck at all with running DP 5.1 on my MacBook in regards to playing or recording MIDI.

Important to mention that I am using a Motu USB Express XT MIDI interface. Also, 2 Gigs of Ram in the MacBook. No 3rd party plug-ins. I have the latest MIDI driver installed: version 1.34. Also, these problems occur when I set DP for MIDI only - no audio recording or playback.

The exact same hardware works flawlessly with my old TiBook and DP 4.12.

Is anyone having these problems, too? If you are having no problems, total success and bliss, I'd like to know that as well.

Thanks for any input,
Xylo
