Hi All.
I am currently using a Dual G4 1.0 with 1.75GB Ram and two hard drives inside. I am running DP 5 on this machine and loving, except for the darn noise it makes. (Loud Fan) I use Waves Plugins to mix with and have had an easy time with it, rarely maxing out the CPU.
I have a 1.83 MacBook Pro with 512mb RAM at this time, I did a full mix on the machine and it held up perfectly, not even close to 50% with a good amount of tracks going and about 2 plugs per channel. I am wanting to use my 828 and the MacBook as my main computer for tracking and mixing, is anyone doing this yet? Anyone having any issues with memory? If I do use the MacBook I would max the memory out and use an external drive for audio. I guess I am wanting to know if anyone is using the MacBook for heavy duty recording, editing and mixing...What is your impression?
Thanks!

Well, it's not a MacBook Pro, but I use my Ti PowerBook with a 1GHz processor to record and mix with my 828mkII. Yes, max out the RAM and use an external drive. I daisy chain a FW drive thru my 828, but others have had problems with this and suggest a FW controller card for the Cardbus? slot to plug the external drive into. I record 10 channels regularly for 3-4 hour gigs.
