MDD fan noise showing up in monitors

My config:

Dual 1.25 GHz MDD
DP 5.1
MOTU 828

I'm pretty sure this has zero to do with DP since the culprit noise is there whether or not DP is active.

It starts a few minutes after I start the Mac and presumably when the fan(s) begin to come on. I don't hear the wind noise until after, so it may be another fan located in the Mac that I'm unaware of. The noise is a rapid electronic click that one would normally associate with a fan. Needless to say, trying to record with it is futile. If anyone has any ideas please respond. Thanks very much.
