MSNBC just reported a moment ago that Apple has announced a battery recall on some laptops using the same batteries from Sony that plagued Dell recently.
This takes Dell somewhat off the hook in terms of total liability, but other laptops from Toshiba and Sony itself have yet to report similar problems.
The report is so new at this moment that I've not yet found an official press release online stating which models, but MSNBC reports that these laptops were released "this year". This was broadcast at 10:20 PDT, Aug 24, 2006 (today, just a few minutes ago).
There was some concern earlier about MacBook Pro battery safety, which the Consumer Product Safety Commission cleared "some models" of MacBook Pros of defects.

I'll scour the web for this latest announcement, which should be dated August 24, 2006.... and will post whatever links I find here.
