Here's where to talk about preamps, cables, microphones, monitors, etc.

Vocal Chain... Any ideas?

Post by paradeatw »

Hey guys... Anyone have any suggestions here? I am open all the way. I put together these two chains believeing that they will work well for my vocals - hip-hop style.

If anyone believes I may have mismatched pres and mics (i am looking for clear, transparent vocals with a hint of color) please share your thoughts.

Chain One
Mojave Audio MA-200 > Great River MP-1NV > Apogee PSX100 > Tascam 1804

Chain Two
Brauner Phantom AE > Brent Averill BAE312A > Apogee PSX100 > MOTU 896HD

I may also supplement the above set-up with an Avalon 747 (not the 737) to send DP's stereo mix into and back into DP for the final mix. Anyone have any thoughts on using the 747 or any other ideas similar to the 747?

Anyone have any thoughts on choosing either the Tascam or the MOTU for the DAW interface?

Thanks in advance :)

-Shane

Well if you want clear but with coloration, another option would be:

Soundelux iFet7 ===>Focusrite ISA430mkII w/ADC option into your DAW of choice.
Thank you,
