DP 5.1 Surround on Intel

Post by itinerant »

Hello All,

My first post, but I've been using DP for years. I've been using a Traveller at work on a Dual G5 PowerMac and at home on a MacBook Pro. DP 5.01 + Traveller are completely solid on the G5 - doing 5.1 mixing. I've had DP open for over a week! Doing digital captures from Minidisk via the coax in on the Traveller. The MacBook Pro is a different story - I got the 5.1 update today - and was expecting the same stability. I've got it to the point where its stable for stereo work, by following a few threads here. I was getting crash after crash until I moved the ArcPanner bundle - now it stays up, but I get intermitant high ptched whistle, and occsionally deteriorated sound - like its 8bit all of a sudden. Sometime the whistle will just stay stuck on - only a reboot of the traveller will free things. Strangely, through all this, the mic inputs are producing crystal clear audio from the connected mic.

I have no plugins/effects, and use no other audio software on this machine. The machine is absolutely bang up-to-date in terms of system software.

Anything else I can try - 4.6 still works for me under Rosetta?

Pete
