Typically, when it comes to musical gear, there's a general correlation between quality and price. There's variance, sure, but on the whole it's an applicable rule-of-thumb, I think.
Well, I just picked up an MXR Dyna Comp. 70 bucks new (free for me actually -- got a gift certificate). The thing sounds great, particularly on amped distortion guitar. Set the sensitivity light, push the output just a touch and voila! Tone and sustain.
