DP5 - my QT is way out of sync (bummer) - Solved

Post by pencilina »

Hi,
A DP5 report from the trenches:

I'm scoring animation. My QT video on internal window is way out of sync during playback in 5. Usually early but inconsistent so offsetting will not help especially as scrubbing and frame nudging chasing is perfect. (I won't even get into the quicktime audio - as that seems to be a known bug and I import the movie audio into my projects). I haven't tried the firewire output yet. I did try a few different compression schemes, playing back on a different monitor and moving the mov to different drives. And no luck, f&*cking Bummer. I called MOTU and the tech told me to repair permissions (mine were fine - I use macaroni) and move the movie to another drive. Which I did while on the phone. It seemed to play ok the first time I played back, I hung up and then worked for a while. Then I F'd up a few cues when I realized I was out of sync. Stupid me for being on the cutting edge in the middle of a project. I just wanted to use those groovey new streamers, track folders and silent click. I was able to save as 4.6 and switch back to 4.61 and am now back to work with no problems at all. My system is a 2x1.8 G5 with 2 gig ram,2408I/424 and two internal SATAs (system/apps and project) running a stable 10.3.9. and quicktime 7 and 2 monitors.

If someone else could check or provide a solution it would be great.

Other then that I only had one crash while doing nothing, and my mouse cursor disappear after I clicked on the sample load pane of one of the new cheesy VIs and I had to do some fancy key commands to restart.

Cheers.

Out of sync w what? Are you saying the TC window-burn is not consistent w DP's TC display? Can you clarify?

now SOLVED!

it was running early - little characters mouths were moving before the audio
I talked to tech support again this morn. and "load"ed the old chuinks into a new dp5 project and all is well in DP 5 land for me for the time being.

Thanks for your interest and I hope this helps someone else.

I'm still confused. Are you saying the known quicktime-audio bug is fixed by Loading the project into DP5?

the VISUAL quicktime was off it's corrosponding audio and proper timing when spotted/scrubbed (in the sequence) now its not.

the moral of the story:
if youre working on a project in dp5 that started in 4.61 and its quicktime movie is playing out of sync reload its chunk into 5 (file>load) and you're good

I had exactly the same problem, and was told it was a known bug, even though QT had worked flawlessly for me in 4.61. This seems to have fixed it. Thank you.
