2408 adat outputs issue

Post by ksira »

Hi guys
I've got a 2408 mkII installed on a Win2000 machine that I use in conjuction with a bit of software called console. It lets you host vst instruments and route any vst out to any physical outputs (great utility). Anyway, I've been using it with BFD and other vsts as a slave to my main ProTools system. So I send MIDI to the PC (BFD) and the audio comes out of the analog outs of the 2408 into my digi 192. All is great.
I am now trying to setup so the ouputs of BFD come from the ADAT outs of the 2408 into the optical input of the digi 192. I've tried clocking the 2408 to the optical out as well as the word clock out from the 192 but I keep getting a 'swish' 'scratch' sound randamly. It's not a click or pop like when the clocks aren't set right but a quiet randam swish sound.
I used the same adat cables and tried the same setup but with my Muse Receptor and that works fine.
Has anyone come across a situation like this?

Thanks and cheers
Kim

I use a 2408MKii too....forget adat(lightpipe) sync...i tried syncing with an RME interface(RME Master) ...noway...some chnls worked...some hat that "squish"...

wordclock inputs should work better...are you shure your digi doesn't transmit superclock?(256x)

does the 2408 work fine when switched to internal clock source?
