how do i change the tempo of the prerecorded loops in machfive?
sorry for my ignorance, i'm pretty new at this.

sorry, without any further info (like do you mean REX loops or single samples? Are they in slices? How are you triggering?) this might sound a bit glib - you need to pitch them up or down... play with the pitch section!

the loops are the sample loops that shipped with my machv sounds dvd.

You can't do timestretching within Mach 5 (yet!) When (and if) version 2 ever ships you will be able to. For now you need to take the raw sample and load it into DP, do your tempo change and then export the new sample-load into Mach 5.

Can't you pitch them up and down to match the tempo? Am I missing something here?

Then the pitch will change won't it? That is usually an undesirable result when working with rhythmic loops.

...only if there's a pitch reference in the loop. If they're only percussion/drums etc, there's not usually a problem. Otherwise, load the sample into your host and work out how to stretch it. In Pro Tools, for instance, you can graphically stretch the audio and make it snap to your tempo very easily.
