PowerCore causing DP to crash

I am working on some old projects (DP 2.7) with TC PowerCore plug-ins. Some projects have a lot of these plug-ins going and when I am working with them DP will unexpectedly quit. Also, when I first open them in DP, sometimes a TC PowerCore message pops up with out of memory messages. If I keep working (ignoring the situation), DP will quit. Lastly, if I try to move the PowerCore plug-ins to a different position, DP will quit. (moving DP plug ins will not cause a quit).

My PowerCore software is version 1.9.6 with TCAU 1.3.5. I realize that I shouldn't push it to the limit with so many plug-ins, and I do remove some PowerCore plug ins so I can work. I was wondering if anyone experienced this or heard of this. It seems like a TC software bug. My previous versions of Mac OS, DP and PowerCore didn't have any problems.

I'd unplug the Powercore to get the sessions open and bypass all the PC plugins so you can reinstantiate them one by one......

saving everytime you reinstantiate a plugin.

Thanks for the tip. I've been getting my projects to work fine. Caution is definitely needed when using the PowerCore in OS X. If I start loading up on the PoCo plugs, then DP starts acting "shaky". I had a spinning beachball hang when I tried to add a PoCo plug during playback. I still think the PoCo drivers are unstable.

Well I have a new issue. Audio Stutter with my powercore. Looked over at the Powercore forum and no help. Yeech!!!!!

I just hooked up a new PoCo a week ago and my crashes have gone up substantially. Weird stuff. Couple kernal panics and just a lot of DP quitting. Don't know what to do about it. I love the powercore, but I'm wasting some time on these issues.

Not familiar with the audio stutter. Could it be your CPU? Are you getting any processor spikes along with the stutter? Sometimes I get spikes followed by a message that the audio has an error and needs to shut off (or stop playback). This could be something else, but dropping the load on the PoCo definitely stops the problem.

No spikes just when I insert I get audio hiccups.

I wonder if people are generally having better luck with a PCI powercore than a firewire powercore...??? I'm using a firewire one. Maybe I should get a regular poco?

Using a PowerCore firewire on Dual Processor G4 QuickSilver, and loving it. This is on top of 2 x UAD-1 cards. Every thing is OK except if I turn on a firewire device during a session. This then makes all the TC plug-ins go off line. Not much hassle though, all I have to do is simply re-open the song and it all goes good. My PowerCore firewire is stable all the time and I believe the reason is that it has it's very own connection to the computer. Are those of you who are having trouble perhaps sharing a firewire port between the PowerCore and another device?

My issue went away. I think it was a bad power issue, slapped this thing ona big 14Amp UPS system and no noise....

My issues have gone away, also (mostly). If my projects have a lot of PoCo plugs going, pushing the limit of the PoCo PCI card, then DP will quit. I have to keep an eye on the DP processor meter also, because too many native plugs will cause the meter to get "jumpy", then eventually DP will quit. I don't press my luck. I keep the loads down for PoCo and native plug processing, and all is well.

Once in a while after working on a few different projects with TC plugs, I close the project (cmd-w), then quit the PowerCore App (displaying load data), then quit DP, and I get the fading gray screen with an error and I am forced to restart. This problem is sporadic, and I am 99% sure it is a kernel panic, which is hardware related, which makes me think the PoCo in the PCI slot. I have noticed in the bug fix report in PoCo 2.0 for Mac OSX, that this may be an issue they addressed in the upgrade.
