Inserts as direct outs? Can I?!

Hi,

just a simple question ... I have a Behringer sl2442 eurodesk mixer ... it doesn't have direct outs on its channels ... Can I instead use the insert outs on each channels to route my signals to my Traveller inputs? would it be any different if i have a mixer with direct outs? also are the Behringer sl2442 mic pres usable or should I just go with my traveller pres?

I don't think it will once you plug into the insert it will interrupt the signal and requires a return back to complete the circuit.
Your best bet is to take the outs from your subs/bus and assign the tracks you want to your subs.
Assuming that board only has four subs your limited to that many outputs.
But if you just trying to record 8 in 8 out you could use you AUX sends on every channel or a compo of both.
With out knowing your board its had to say.

Not sure if the behringer is like mackie, on the mackies, insert a cable one click, that's direct out, insert it two clicks and it returns the signal if you are using a y cable. This method allows you to get Unbalanced direct outputs on each channel.
