It' a self portrait I did in high school. The un-cropped version is on my web site.

Count me in. My system may not be the best equipped, but with each consecutive "update" it has become DRAMATICALLY less able to keep up. I expected a little rise in performance, but it's ridiculous!

Alright, I've been noticing this type of behavior (random performance anomolies) for that past 3 Apple OS revisions and as soon as MOTU gets caught up, Apple comes out with a new OS. Clearly this has to be a cart before the horse thing... I know that the system that I'm running now pretty much does what I need.... but there's times I would like a bit more and I have to re-think my stategies to achieve the same sonic signature.... so yes, an optimization would be nice so I can keep my flow as a producer.

I don't think MOTU CAN optimize DP. I don't think they're smart enough.

OSX is in version 4, and has been out for three or more years, and I think that if MOTU had the intelligence to optimize DP, they would have done it by now.
Actually it may be a Microsoft kind of thinking where they say why should we fix it you bought it anyway. I don't really think MOTU is like that. They probably just put their energies where THEY think is the right place whether it is or not.

yeah like pitch correction and the beat detection engine. theres loads a features in DP that the others daws dont have.

But now they need US, the end user, to tell them where to focus their energies..

Optimization will be their number one priority...... otherwise people wont hang around if they rest on their laurels...its the nature of the world aint it?

I think the problem is, and everybody probably knows this already: FEATURES SELL. If Motu comes out with an update that says "now fully optimized for OSX with 20% more power" or something to that effect, it would be very enticing to all of us because we already use dp and know it's shortcomings, specifically the optimization shortcoming. But, to the general potential buying public, they'll be sold on the list of features like beat detection and pitch correction.

Just a thought.

Optimize, please. I like it as it is, but it needs work, and I don't want to give up using DP.

Motu please optimize the bloated code.
It's been years overdue.
It's quite embarrassing to run at 50% cpu and not being able to move a fader or scroll a window.
I won't even go into the cpu spiking horror.
But i've been saying this for years now.
I just think you can't do it or won't.

All for it if it gets rid of the ridiculous spiking. I've never even run higher that 16bit 48kh...

Number 1 - More stability? Of course. It's a no brainer.

Number 2 - Track folders. So I could group all my drums together and keep my screen less cluttered on those 64 track masterpieces.

Number 3 - Being able to open up multiple track windows. Say one for audio tracks and one for Subs as an example. It should be of my choosing.

Number 4 - A Split MIDI channel feature that works like Split notes. Logic has this. It was useful when I dumped a whole sequence from a portable sequencer into one track in logic. Then I would have all the tracks seperated by channel .

Number 5 - Get with the rest of the planet and switch to WAV or AIFF files. I'm tired of converting!!!!!

These features would make my life alot easier for the way I work and colaborate with others. They seem simple to implement to me but I'm no programer.

That's it for now. I love DP!!!!
