Like the pre/post fader divider...

Yea. That would be ok. Would like a post effects pos as well but hey...

Happy Holidays

That might get a bit cluttery. I'm thinking, put it just before the volume fader, and if you happen to need one the other way, use a Trim plugin. We don't get an option to make the volume fader itself move in the signal chain, though you can set effects and sends to post themselves.

My kids got me an automatic coffee grinder for Christmas. It's very cool. You just set the grind, number of cups, and push start. Now I'd like the next version of DP to fill the coffee maker and turn it on for me. Is that too much to ask?

I'd like the next version of DP to make me not crave coffee anymore.

Did they buy the wire-less or totally-wired model?

Yeah, a bluetooth coffee maker. That's what we need!

How innovative, Phil; I always associated coffee with brown teeth. Brilliant! :?

Oh yeah, and +1 for Shooshie's Trim-in-the-Strip suggestion. I think many of us have looked forward to this for some years; it's simply something that one would think will happen at some stage.

It would be nice to be able to crossfade grouped tracks even when zoomed in without being able to see all of them. Instead of how it works now, only crossfading the tracks that can be seen on the screen.

I was kind of shocked to find out that dp has no object editing ability like samplitude or sequoia have. Without object editor dp seems to stuck in early 2000s. Amazing. Of course trolls will suggest your creating additional tracks to remedy that lackage. Amazing.

That phrase, "Stuck in the 2000's" implies that software developers should uproot their DAW's structure every 10 years. And when users of other software come to DP and say, DP should be more like the software I'm used to, it is an understandable sentiment, but not realistic.

Even the most die-hard DP fans will admit there are some big changes that could and arguably should happen-- but none of them would change the basic structure of how DP works. DP is very flexible and with the way it works, it is very flexible. But it is NOT all things to all people.

I had always heard rave reviews of Samplitude and was curious when I heard rumors at one point of a mac version. It sounds like you should use Samplitude for the things that Samplitude does well. And pop over to DP when you need the strengths of DP.

I agree with all that.

Neither DP, nor any other DAW, can be perfect for every usage for every situation. Each has its pros/cons.

Something that has helped me stop pulling my hair with DP frustration, is doing exactly what Stubbs said in his last paragraph>
Right now I'm totally infatuated with Ableton Live 10 Suite. What an amazing app! But the best part is pairing it with DP via Rewire. This way, I get both DAW's strengths, the best of both worlds. I'm finding they do not compete at all, but they REALLY COMPLEMENT each other.

So if I need to produce an orchestral track, I'll go to DP. If I need something more EDM-style, I'll use DP as the master and Live as the slave with its awesome/different/complementary features. Life is great :D

I just wanted to kind of officially warn the motu corp that I won't use DP unless they implement normal object-oriented editing because automation with all those lines is very frustrating. Also object editing is like having numerous tracks within a track. If you have 10 clips on a track and you want each to have a different effect with dp you will have to either draw 10 automation lines or create 10 more tracks. It's crazy. And it's also crazy to use that ableton+dp rewire solution because it's unrational use of cpu resources and should increase latency as well. And I will stay with samplitude unless they add object-oriented editing to dp. I must admit that dp has best sound quality, that is what attracted me. But in all other ways samplitude just beats dp as to workflow though dp is more stable while samp has problems with vst bridges and vst guis' emerging time.
Also I think the type of music you create is not smth which is really related to the daw features. BEcause what people want is 1) high quality sound 2) effective workflow 3) stability Unfortunately neither dp no samp meet those criteria by 100%. They have best sound quality so there is no other choice available.

I dunno, true object editing is pretty low on my list of wishes for the next version of DP. I mean, it's nice and all, but there are a lot more essential housekeeping things to tidy-up first, especially as far as the Windows version is concerned.

Anyway, I like Samplitude. I bought it during the big sale, and really enjoyed using it for a couple of little projects. I liked the fact that Magix have bucked the dark and dour UI trend and I found the look and feel very refreshing and quick to use. However, Samp is afflicted by a sort of creeping dementia that manifests itself as somewhat batty and frustrating annoyances, to downright inexcusable things like corrupting a save file. The latter happened to me when ARA pooped the bed and would no longer load Melodyne without crashing, meaning I'd lost all of the work I'd done on quite a few vocal tracks.

The real clincher, and why I can't be bothered to use Samp anymore was the final communication I received from the so called Magix Pro Support team. I quote "Dear Todd, Sorry but i have no idea what we can again????"

Not only could they not be bothered to string together a complete sentence, but they essentially just shrugged and said they didn't know what to do.

DP is really not very object oriented now, and I suspect making it so would be more than a major update, more like a basic re-design. There are better things to do with the time.

If you're into the sort of music that benefits from that sort of design, DP was not a good choice of DAWs. There are plenty of others that are.
