No joke? I thought DP 6 was the greatest disaster in the run. They broke the metronome. THE METRONOME! What the hell is a sequencer if not a computer program that COUNTS THE FREAKIN' TIME??!? I just about literally could not believe what was happening. They broke Tap Tempo many years ago, and despite their best efforts to fix it, it remains broken. It works under certain pristine conditions, but for anything heavy-duty, like tapping the tempo of a whole sonata movement that already has a tempo track, it breaks down very fast on my mac. I've almost quit using tap tempo, and there was a time when I used it daily. (Tap Tempo, just to be clear, is not the same as Record Beats. That's one of those mistaken associations that just won't quit.) I can only hope that this version will finally fix it. Their beta testers never seem to catch that one. It bugs me, because that was one of the bullet-proof examples of DP's perfect timing, as things were long ago. Will we ever return to that state of perfection again? Those days we were using a much simpler app. The massive changes that DP has undergone in the past 10 years make it unlikely that we'll ever again achieve the perfection throughout the app as we used to see, but even with the flaws that have been introduced by all the incredible features since OSX debuted, it still remains my #1 choice by a long, long way.Gravity Jim wrote:No joke? It got me thinking that an old Mac in the corner of the control room running an older version of DP, or even Performer for MIDI, to do some of the things that are now temperamental/broken, might not be such a bad idea.
