instanciating some tdm-plugs causes graphical issues and then crashes DP7 (f.e. sst-spacestation)

Are you able to upgrade to Snow Leopard? That fixed most of my problems (especially stability) in DP 6.02, before I upgraded to DP7. If you do intensive desktop-publishing, page layouts, or design, especially in Quark, then you might want to wait on upgrading to Snow Leopard, since there are some tremendous font incompatibilities with old PS Type 1 fonts. Aside from that, SL works very well. I'm not saying it will fix what is happening, but that it MAY fix it. It certainly fixed the sudden quits and things that were happening to me in DP 6.02 (in MAS, not DAE).

a question to the DAE-guys christopher & tripit

on what machines are you, on Intel or PPC ?

and if you are on PPC, does DP7/DAE run with PT8 under Leopard on your system?

I can it only bring to run under Tiger and PT 7.2/7.4

with Leopard & PT8 DP7 immediately crashes on hitting play

thanks...

I'm running DP7 with PT8 on a 2x2.66 Intel with 12gb ram.

Hasn't crashed once so far. The only graphical problem I have, is the mixer board won't scroll to the MIDI or audio track I select in tracks overview. Even if I have it selected as an option in preferences. I keep having to close the mixer window, then reopen it to get it to scroll select.

I have intel 8 core 2.8 with two boot drives - one is 10.4.11 and PT7.4 and the other is 10.5.8 and PT8.01.

DP7 works in both. The only real issue I've discovered so far is that in the Leopard/PT8 only some of my VI plugs will sync to tempo. Kontakt and Spectrasonics will not sync, but EZ Drummer and a few others will. Also there is a MIDI naming issue with VE Pro MIDI ports.

But, on the Tiger/PT7.4 all the VI sync fine - no issues.

There are a couple of odd graphic things going on.
When I use the I-beam tool and select a region in the MIDI editor window, it doesn't stay highlighted. It only highlights in the cc window and the tracks overview, but not the edit window itself. I got the issue to go away once or twice, but it comes back right away.

I also had some strange GUI graphic behavior on one session, namely I couldn't resize the consolidated window easily and while tweaking a fader, it would pop around. I would drag it up and it would pop back down way below were it was (no automation engaged) I trashed prefs, rebooted and in one case loaded the session into a new session and that fixed it.
This was a session that was came from 5.13.

Overall, I think DP7 is stable and works really well. I haven't bothered to open 5.13 since I got 7 and that is a really good sign. I can walk away from 5.13 for good now. I've been able to work in 7, the only issue being that I have no sync with VI in Leopard and no VE Pro in Tiger, both of which I could use.

So if you need VI tempo sync (and who doesn't?) you'll need to stay with Tiger until there is a fix, and this could be a problem for those who have the latest Mac's and no way to run under Tiger.

I fear they didn´t test the combination PPC, PT8, Leopard

I´ve created a techlink but I have little hope they respond to it

I think unfortunately PPC has fast become the red headed step child. Most of the developers
don't want to have to deal with it anymore since Apple has made it clear that they don't.
I was forced off of PPC last year when one of my processors died in my G5. I still have it and even on one processor it still functions fairly well as a slave, but moving to the 8 core was huge benefit and as much as it hurt, I'm glad I did it.

It's working here. Have you dumped all the prefs etc? I've had some minor graphic issues when opening 5.13 sessions in DP7. I've had to dump the prefs a number of times.
