UPDATE - Apparently it doesn't work in DP according the the creator. He will test Unify and that might be a way around this though.
Yea, it shows up as a VST3 in DP, but isn't selectable from any lists that I can see.

When I have more time, I'll see if I can load it in BlueCat's PatchWork.

James Steele wrote: Fri Sep 09, 2022 12:16 am Hey Michael... regarding Biotek... is there some way to use a Korg KAOS pad or something similar to control the X/Y window (the weird looking one with the tree and circuitry). You can get variations by moving the mouse cursor around on that, but doesn't seem like a way to do it from a controller keyboard. Just wondering if it was mappable? I'll keep looking. Maybe I can load it in Komplete Kontrol and map something to it?

UPDATE: I just loaded in into Komplete Kontrol and found the X and Y axis are mapped by default to some knobs on my Komplete Kontrol S61 Mk2 keyboard. Although you'd have to turn two knobs simultaneously (ala Etch a Sketch) to move the cursor diagonally. It seems like you'd want to be able to control this with some sort of touch pad and be able to record those moves as automation. There must be something out there to do that.

biotekinkk.gif
So yeah, this is a current limitation in DP for the most part, plug ins that do not have internal CC, or are fussy with CC assignments, there's not a workaround for using track/plug in automation to do so. Well at least not without third party solutions like Komplete Control, or in my case Unify. Bit of a pain in the ass, but I finally got the iPad controller app KB-1 that has a huge XY pad to work by assigning Unify macros to the default cc 12 and 13 the KB-1 XY pad puts out.

Wondering if my bug is a Biotek in Apple Silicon related one? When you assign parameters internally in Biotek, so say the LFO to Cutoff etc. etc. the GUI bugs out and shows 0.00 across all LFO speed, variations etc. You can sort of see a greyed out number changing behind the white 0.00 but yea, AU, VST, VST3, and I checked in Live and it does it there too. Reported it anyway. Beyond that this is a great replacement for Absynth IMO, maybe the delays aren't as crazy but it has the multipoint envelopes and all kinds of ways to mess with an oscillator etc.

I’m having no problem using Magic Trackpad 2 and AudioSwift to control the “Ring” in Biotek now. I posted my solution elsewhere. For Biotek the Ring X axis is mapped to CC#16 by default and the Y axis is mapped to CC#17. Once I got that figured out it’s working fine.

They are free if you own the IOS app versions. You have to jump through about 4 "Buy Now" and "Pay" windows. About the wrappers - I'm still confused about the MOTU support of plugin formats, Is there any definitive source?
On the web site? I do own the iOS version. I'll have to check it out.
No, through the App store.
Well, I went through the process and was prepared to pay the $24.99 if it didn't work out. Anyway, I eventually clicked on the confirmation screen when this showed up. Yes!

Downloading and installing the Wrappers from the Moog site couldn't have been easier.

BTW, this is one half of the Moog Vintage Synthesizer Bundle in the App Store so I now have the Model 15 Modular also. It's default sound is the rhythmic appargeio from Autobahn — just sayin'...

Anyway, if you don't have these and missed the Moog giveaways for iOS, the Model D is $14.99 over there. I believe that entitles you to the Model D and Model 15 for Mac freebies.

Demo is interesting. Don't know that I would ever use it. With Rigid Audio, this code always gives you 10% off, even with this. GIVEME10 makes this a whopping $4.32.

Right? I mean it's so cheap and only 1.4GB. Seems like it's a Sci Fi movie soundtrack composer's dream. Mostly weird ambiences, etc.

P.S. Thanks for the reminder on the "GIVEME10" coupon code, Mike. I added that info into the title and the first post.

Aren't you still loading Bioteck into Komplete Control though? That's what I mentioned, Bioteck on it's own offers limited cc automation abilities, but loaded into a program like Komplete Control or in my case Unify, you can assign MIDI cc's directly to the X and Y parameters in Biotek. thereby making it "plug and play" in the sense that any track you load it into in DP that's armed will receive the cc messages you assigned no issue. In my case the default for the KB-1 XY is cc 12 and 13, assigned in Unify to macro knobs and the XY parameters of Biotek, plug and play. :)

I think you could also load the half dozen MIDI CC's Biotek does do, (breath, mod etc.),but I wanted to save those for MPE and the Mod wheel etc.

Before this sale ends I have to mention just how insane Novum is, it's not directly a Tracktion product so the sale is more like around $90 at JRR Shop with the group discount, but it's a granular synth that divides sounds into 6 parts that you can manipulate etc. separately. You can take the envelopes from a flute and put it on drums etc. Crazy stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqE3kIGdvjQ

It doesn't need to be in Komplete Kontrol for CC#16 to control X axis and CC#17 to control Y axis of the "Ring" control in the center of Biotek. That seems to be the default. Komplete isn't mapping anything that I know off, just passing the incoming CC along to the plug in.

Just to make sure, I just now loaded an instance of Biotek *directly* into an instrument track. NO Komplete Kontrol at all. Using my Magic Trackpad 2 configured with Audioswift to send CC16 and CC17 for the X/Y axises respectively, it works just the same for me.

I went to JRR Shop and having a hard time finding any mention of a group discount... it says it's $179 which is more than I could spend for sure. Plus I just got Synth AI from Samplelogic and liking that one, but that was $149. I gotta slow down on the VI purchases. :surrender:

Must've been a separate sale, Novum isn't a Tracktion product, just distributed by them, shows up in it's own category in DP even. I figured it was part of the same sale but maybe not? Yeah the $24 sale for Bio Tek and F-Em is also over on their site but not at JRR, they must have permission to sell at that price until their virtual stock runs out or something?

Realitone Nightfall Pre-Release $129 (normally $199)

Post by James Steele »

Requires full version of Kontakt for now in pre-release but will work with free Kontakt player when the official release is out apparently. Here's the link:

https://realitone.com/products/nightfall-pre-release

It's not exactly cheap... and I really have been buying too many plugs lately... but I made the mistake of watching this demo video and now I'm wanting it pretty bad. LOL

Plug in Alliance $19.99 Sale & bx_shredspread

Post by James Steele »

Plugin Alliance has a sale going on for next 20 hours... ends at midnight today... Monday. Several of their plugs are just $19.99.

https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products.html

While I'm posting this I have to give kudos to bx_shedspread.

https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/prod ... pread.html

Here's the blurb:
bx_shredspread can control panning, stereo width, and the “tone” of your stereo guitar tracks and groups. It automatically avoids phase problems that commonly occur when using M/S technology thanks to Brainworx’s legendary algorithms for stereo width, EQ and pan.

Although mainly created for guitars, bx_shredspread can also be used on keyboard groups, organs, choirs, background vocals and other stereo or doubled tracks.

If only one channel (L or R) detects audio, for example during the guitar intro of a song, the M/S processing is bypassed automatically, giving you a perfectly clean mono sound until your wall-of-sound kicks in again!

A must-have for rock and metal producers.
I downloaded it first to demo it. Double-tracking rhythm guitars is just a standard thing doing hard rock and metal... and it's really good. You don't put this on a mono track trying to turn it stereo. It goes on a track recorded in stereo, or put in on a guitar bus with guitars doubletracked left and right. I A/B'd it against typical spread/width plugs and this does something special... I'd demo it if you're into the same kind of music as me.
