Definitely not doing that here. MIDI Editing is working as always (perfectly) here.
DP 7.1, OSX 10.6.2, latest MIDI/Audio drivers.

fair enough observation(s), but check my "MIDI editing DEAD" post and you'll see that, using the same OS, same MIDI driver on the same Mac (and keyboard), it's *not* happening with 6.03, but is with 7.02 and 7.1

What kind of mouse or trackball device are you using?
And okay... it's happening to you. Believe me, I'd like to get to the bottom of this because even if nobody else is having this behavior, until yours is cleared up DP will be suspect.

hey, thanks, all. it's reassuring to hear from a couple of you that you've checked it on your systems without problems. I really didn't think MOTU would release a version with glaring mistake and I'm pretty sure now that it's something on my system - some file that, as Zed said, 7.02 and 7.1 share, but not 6.03. I'll do total reinstalls tomorrow and report back.
thanks again

Just curious; do you use a utility like USB Overdrive which remaps your USB controls? That is, it can make any button on any device do any button-tasks?

All I can add to this is that when it happened to me, I realized that my keyboard controller would always boot up in OMNI mode, meaning that it would send its own MIDI data and that DP would augment that MIDI input data with that of its own... resulting in double notes.
As with any new version of "anything", perhaps DP preferences need to be reset to accommodate this anomaly? Or that the controller might be reset to OMNI Mode OFF.

Performance Mode will also send multiple MIDI outs simultaneously on many keyboards.

Yeah... I was thinking along these lines when I asked if his keyboard had multiple zones and more than one could be activated and could result in sending duplicate notes when recording MIDI.
To help narrow it down, I would say that he should record some MIDI as he usually does, then immediately look at the Event List for that track and see if the duplicate notes are being created upon recording... which would indicate a setting on the MIDI controller keyboard.

He might also try disconnecting or disabling his qwerty kbd to make sure it isn't sending an opt key. Same for his mousey...

OK. Just got back in the studio. I WASN'T DP!
I must have hit something on the controller kybd. I did a factory reset and all is well.
Yipee! Back to work. Thanks everyone.

"That darned DP7... everything was working fine and now..." Oops.
Thanks for coming back here and letting us know it wasn't a DP issue. A lot of people don't.

I added "[RESOLVED" to the subject header.

Except a stuck option key would cause zooming to preclude any copying...
