Now I understand better ....
DVD-A means 6 channels non compressed
DVD-V means 5.1 Dolby or DTS compressed ....
So I guess that is why my new player does output it in stereo thru the optical cable .....????
Does this means I need to use the analog cabling to get the multichannel working ?

Yes. You may only get the multi-channel audio via the analog outputs. However, if you have a G5, you may output multi-channel audio via the digital out- DVD-Video (AC-3) or DTS. The Minnetonka DTS-CD software is also very hip. Be forewarned, you must have a DTS decoder to hear a DTS CD...

It is very interesting ... I tought surround was always compressed ...
Good ....

Enough people have said it works that I guess it's
something besides ths software - which still has crashed
every last time I've opened it, and done nothing else.
Maybe it's my burner - Pioneer DVR-106D
OS10.3.9, 1G ram, g4 AGP 1.2Ghz (gigadesigns).
I've reinstalled the system from scratch and done every
other voodoo I know...

Beware of the bronze version available from MOTU-Minnetonka as it's not compatible with Tiger (10.4+). There is a new beta version 1.0.5 that supposedly is, but I've not been able to verify.
There is a very nice guy at Minnetonka who apparently was the only one to have the new version. But his PC ate the dust during a lightning storm (starting to get the picture). Four weeks later they sent me an update to try, but now the eval has expired. Three weeks later still no way to eval. MOTU has washed their hands of how it might work beyond the glowing endorsement on their home page.
Looks like it's back to WaveLab on the PC.

Now have the third version of the Bronze software (1.0.6), and still no luck. Trying to burn a disk still causes instant crash. While Minnetonka says this version is 10.4-ready, this is the symptom that made the previous versions not ready. Has anyone got this thing to work? MOTU, did you at least try it before you "partnered"?

I asked that back in the beginning but MOTU made it
clear they would answer no questions about it, even
whether they had ever used it.
I'm still guessing no -
