I think this is the trick - in the "open with" browsing window, did you change the option up top from "recommended applications" to "all applications"? The thing is, the plug-in is not seen as an application, so is greyed out even when "show all applications" is chosen.
I've been very ill and off the board for a spell; sorry for the slow response.
