Please send wishes for a speedy recovery from an avid "pushing 60" skater.

This is Shooshie's son, and I wanted to let you all know that he is unable to read or write any messages on this forum at this time, and he may not return for a few days.

Yesterday, he and I were skating (inline) along a trail at a lake near our house, and he took a rather hard fall that landed him in the emergency room. He suffered a broken hip, and has undergone surgery. The doctor is very positive about the operation, so we are expecting him to heal up nicely.

For now, Shooshie remains in the hospital, but we hope to see him on crutches (and skates!) very soon.

Sincerely,

Shooshie's Son

At last! Someone who understands that this isn't craziness, but a way of life. It's wings on the feet, right bro? I'll be cleared for 8 wheels as soon as I'm cleared for two shoes. See you on the trail, man.

Donating a pint to the cause is de rigeur, but a hip--oh, that's a steep price. Prayers and kind thoughts make for good medicine, so mine are with you, my friend. I'll be thinking of you as I whoosh on. Yes, wings on the feet. I wish my overly caring friends could feel the freedom...

En vitesse,
Elliott

It's moments like this that make us forget about the pdf manual. Now where did I put it?

Happy healing, Shooshie.

Yeah... still pinned! I'm of the mind to keep it here until we hear he's walking around again. No sense being frugal with those get-well good vibes until he's all better. :-)

Thanks, James.

This is easily the most positive thread on the entire board-- and a darn good read!

Get well soon :!:
This is just a detour.
The main road is just ahead.

Whatever you do, don't eat spinach!

I don't usually read the top end of the forum. I just noticed this announcement today. :(

No matter.
I'm certain Shooshie would appreciate the gesture and sentiment, Flash.
Thanks.

PS: What's wrong with spinach?
You know where it's secret power lies? Chlorophyll.
Yup, and this contains practically everything you need.
That's why I recommended the barley powder for Shoosh.

It's amazing how many "old skool" ideas actually hold water when you look into them.
See, in yesteryear more folks relied on experience rather than, er, the media.
More power to them, methinks!

MM,
Apparently there was a recall of organic spinach products in the US due to e-colli contamination. I believe Shooshie was in possession of a spinach and artichoke dip at the time which was affected, but his instincts told him not to eat it. So experience was certainly valuable in this case as also was media to warn of the contamination and put the recall in place nationwide. Before the advent of instant media/communication many people would have died from such a contamination.
Spinach is, of course, a real hero food in my opinion also. My local Japanese restaurant does a spinach and sesame dish that is absolutely exquisite.

Interesting. Thanks, Dave.

I've always associated salmonella and e-colli with animal products.
Something foreign's rotted and somehow been mixed in, perhaps?
Rotting animal stuff'll expose you to flesh-eating bacteria and can kill quite easily.
Obviously a "contamination", as you say.

I've found that rotting vegies are OK, relatively speaking.
In fact, I've eaten literally thousands of half-rotten salads for dinner.
Not once have I even felt nauseuos from this.
Give me a piece of meat, however, and it doesn't even need to be rotting to make me very ill.
Funny, I've thought I'd gotten away with it several times, but 8 to 10 hours later, when the smorgasboard (!) of "nasties" has had sufficient time and heat to "breed up", up it comes.

See, flesh requires some nasties to be broken down.
You can prove this by letting some raw meat rot (better than cooked!).
Note the smell and appearance (if you can stand it!).
Do the same with any raw vegie. Now that's chalk and cheese!

Raw fruit and vegies carry the 8 bacterial strains you need in your gut.
These aren't the "Dairy industry-pushed" strains people think they need.
These completely break down all vegetable products.
They even produce all the B12 you need as a waste product.
Vegans etc. who feel they need it, obviously aren't eating correctly.
That'd be RAW vegetable matter, then.
Yup, Monkey explodes another myth.

Question, what does the flesh-eating stuff eat if not constantly and properly fed?
Food (!) for thought?

Lucky Shoosh had his "Meister-meter" turned on that day!
I sometimes wish he wouldn't live so "dangerously"!

Phew... at least he's OK.
Again.
