TAKES & QUICK KEYS / WORK FLOW

so, i find myself needing to go through and select new take a lot. is there a way to select a set of tracks and add a new take to each without doing it to each one manually?

also, if you have any simillar quick key processes you're using to speed up work flow i'd love to hear them.

Group the tracks, and when the group menu appears select new take, rename take and delete take from the parameters that you can choose to be grouped. Now lets say that you are recording a drum set with 8 tracks, every tame that you create a new take, choose rename or delete a take will affect all 8 tracks.

Pressing Control-Option-N is a short cut for creating a new take. Control-Option- up/ down arrow, is a shortcut to go to the next of previous take. Make sure that the tracks are record enabled to be able to use these shortcuts.

Check the Commands window. It's full of useful shortcuts. A bit overwhelming at first, but use the search function to find the areas you are looking for and learn the ones you need. It'll help a lot. Now, if I could just remember the shortcut to open the commands window...

That's funny , but there is nothing about takes in the commands window, I was looking for this just yesterday. I have a Transport and I was downstairs cutting guitar and the studio is upstairs so I wanted the Transport to change takes (in addition to record, play and locate) but it will only learn a "key command" and I couldn't find a key command in the commands window but I'll try what Musicarteca suggested, Control-Option-N

ok. i found the group command but the new take thing only seems to work with MIDI? i'm using audio tracks only. when i group the audio what benefits do i get from it? you'd think you could select all the tracks and just do a new take and it'd change it across all the tracks or even if i decided to set a selection to a new bus it'd do it all at once. i know this is possible but it's not working for me.

the track has to be record enabled for the selecting/duplicating/creating takes key commands to work.

When creating a Group, pull down the Group Type mini menu and select "Custom" to view the grouping options. Option click on one to deselect all others.
