the odd part is that i run a macbook, and have never seen this issue. 1.4.7 and 10.4.8 have both been fine for me.asela wrote:this is not the first time that motu released an upgrade in beta state...
so nothing you can do solve this problems... the software is buggy...
think in version 4.0 it works awful until 4.6 came a year later... and it still crashes sometimes...
so... stop buying motu stuff...
most software companies do the same thing. operating systems have staggering amounts of bugs even well after release. just about every daw manufacturers' forum has a contingent that complains about being "beta testers" and i don't know of any daw that doesn't have at least a few longstanding unresolved issues.
so...stop buying software

though, the only exception that comes to mind is propellerhead (reason)...their releases are usually very very good.

i never had a crash using Ableton Live, or Propellerhead Reason...
i‘m using a MacBook Pro 17 and DP5.1 is unusable, and i‘m using apple and mac since 1982, so my configuration is not the issue, is the software, bad implementation of the GUI, processsor clips with 1 track running alone, freezes every 5 min, lost of unmuted tracks in the bounce, ufff...
so knock on wood if you haven‘t crashed yed ...
and notice that i‘m not connecting any hardware yet...

just want to add my complain about crash every 2 min, or if very lucky 30 min.
my faulty combination is macbook, 10.4.8, DP5.1
I've got the crash logs with the strange "surround" thing.
I never use any suround track, of course.
I've tried every workaround I can access, to not avail :
smc update, os update, dp update, built-in audio, no plugins, reinstall, defrag, techtoolpro, onyx, tweak here and there, etc...
seems very confusing, but I also get a few "audi-MIDI setup" crashs (!)
and a single midiserver crash (?)
so what I'm gonna do ?
work is going to be tough.
help , If any, please

Salut,
Vu que t'es en France, je tente la VF...

T'as essayé ça?
1. Disable Pre-Fill Buffers in Configure Studio Settings
2. Raise buffer size to 1024
3. Disable or Delete any unused audio/aux/instr. tracks
4. Switch to Medium Work Priority
5. Increase Host Buffer Multiplier to 2

Of course all these precious advices did NOT help in any way.
DP 5.1 still crashes randomly, from 2 to 30 min.
Last motu updates here, last apple updates, last firmwares, and so, and so...
Sigh !

DP 5.1 is crashing on my Macbook
I think I figured it out- and I mean no more crashing AND running Vista easily- the ultimate Intel Mac.
After making sure that 5.1 is the only version/copy on my system and fixing permission and verifying the HD, I used SuperDuper! to back up the system drive to a fresh firewire drive. After re-booting on the firewire drive, I used SuperDuper! to copy back to a freshly formatted drive. And voila! Crashing stopped.
And for those of you using Windoze Vista on the Intel macs. Just format your drive for two partitions the other one being a DOS partition. Don't use BootCamp except to create the drivers CD-ROM. Then SuperDuper! the files back over. You don't have to lose your 200 meg partiton for future firmware updates. Make sure to seperate the drivers from the install program since the program is not compatible with Windoze Vista. Then install the drivers manualy.
To get back on track (and on topic), re-authorize DP and you are done. Works great over here. AND I figured out a FANTASTIC way to run all the old plug-ins that are not Universal Binary. But I'm not ready to tell that secret yet
Let me know if this works for you. Sorry I went off-topic but I know that many of you are hackers and since you are formatting the drive, you can kill two installation with one stone.
With my MacBook pro 17, I (as well as my clients) can wirelessly network with ANY piece of equipment in my studio and listen in real-time.
Image sitting at a free WiFi spot and playing a portable keyboard that is remotely triggering a Synclavier and a Mac Tower full of samples. And it plays back in real-time from the laptop's built-in speakers. All while controlling the network cameras and having two-way conversations, listening to mixes-in progress, etc.
Technology, when it works, can be great!

usable but painfull.
waiting for dp5.1.1, I guess

apple S has been the only fix I could come up with, so please MOTU catch up with this as it is generally such an excellent product. This is a brand new computer, nothing but stock dp plugs, no file sharing apps in the background etc etc.
