Need help with DP, 828 MKII and using cue mix
I have a song that has rhythm tracks and horn parts. What I would now like to do is use the outs on the back of my 828 MK II to go into a 4 track Sony MDM-X4 mini disc recorder. Horns on one track, rhythm on another. I do have the cue mix panel opening up on my desk top, but the only way I can get signal showing up on the Sony deck is if I plug the main outs of the 828 directly into the sony. I'm hoping one of you out there can help me use the correct routing of this gear. Why am I trying to transfer this material to the Sony? The music is really hard Trumpet wise so I was hoping I load up the Sony deck and let the Trumpet guy work on it for a week or so.

OK, I've now figured out that if I assign Analog 1 to the Rhythm section tracks and Analog 2 to the Horn section tracks I get the signals at the 4 track recorder. I'm still trying to figure out how to route these signals at the 4 track. I'm just trying to get seperate signals into the various channels on the 4 track. Any suggestions?

You need to assign the individual parts to seperate outputs of your 828 and route those outputs to different inputs of the Sony.
Cue Mix is just for no-latency monitoring inputs to the 828. It has nothing to do with tracks already recorded. Now, if you have the mini-disk outputs plugged into the 828 inputs, you can use Cue Mix to monitor what is coming back from the mini-disk, but you'll have to use the mixer outputs of your record application (Audio Desk, DP, whatever) to control what has already been recorded.
