Hi,
I've just bought a new laptop and 828MkII USB and I'm having trouble with Sonar 5.2 not responding. I've tried both the ASIO and WDM and I'm gettting the same problems.
Has anyone had these problems with the firewire version of the 828 MKII? I originally ordered the firewire version of the card but the shops only firewire 828 had a broken screen so they offered me the usb version. Now I'm thinking it would of been better to get the firewire version.
The spec of the laptop is a Dual Core T2500 2.00 GHz with 2 GB Ram with Windows XP Pro service pack 2 installed.

Here's a bit more info all the drivers are the latest, all the ins and outs show up correctly and there's no hub involved.
I've also tested with the usb drivers on my podxt and they have worked fine with no problem for about 3 hours but with the Motu I don't seem to be able to get past about 20 minutes. I'm starting to think that it's a conflict between the Motu 828 mkII and Sonar. It's a real pain because I've been trying to finish some work off and I've spent all my time trying to work out what's happening.

I havent had any problems with the 828MKII firewire and Sonar 5. Well no problems that are exclusive to Sonar. I had a time getting the 828 drivers to go at first. Seesm tehy goof up if you have teh device plugge din while you install. They also will mess up if you have unidentified devices on you hardware profile sometimes. Als make sure you have USB 2.0 correctly installed. I know on Win2000 I had to uninstall USB2.0 then reinstall it with nothing selected for driver location, then Windows finds the correct USB driver. Check in your hardware profiles. If your USB 2.0 driver is dated in the late 90's then it is not the correct one!
Hope this helps.

I've tried the laptop with an ultralite in the shop today with out any problems. So I've decided to swap the USB for the Firewire version and fingers crossed I won't have any problems with it.
I'm feeling pretty feed up about the 828 MKII USB made even worse today by getting the response from the Motu Support. It was the generic email that they send out about the firewire interfaces with firewire replaced with USB apart from the first sentence that told me about the firewire chips that you should use with the motu firewire interfaces. So it just shows that they did not even read the email I sent them!!!!!
The interfaces are really good but I really think Motu need to sort out their support department because it took them a week to send a generic email that showed that they had not even read my fault report!

I've had the card for 4 weeks now and not managed to do any work with it and I'm still waiting for the shop to get the firewire version in so I can swap it out.
It's been a real pain because I'm only in the UK for 8 weeks so I'm only going to get a couple of weeks of work out of it. When I get back to the US I'll be able to use my UltraLite again
