Pretty please?
I think he sort of seems to take a bit of credit for the 'big' response... ("Gee, I asked a good question - look at the response!)

Sort of like a bank robber saying; Gee, I robbed the bank and now everyone is looking at ME. I must be a good theif.

BTW, he at no point recoils at the suggestion of piracy. Keyword here; suggestion.

Hey, MLC
We really shouldn't speculate, but being "patterns-oriented" means I'm allergic to dissonance!

Question:
When are you more likely to show this reaction:
"I think I'll do the "if I don't like it, return it" thing now. See ya. Thanks for your help."

A) When you're curious and making purchasing-decision whoopie (excited)?
or
B) When you're frustrated at the somewhat protracted process of gleaning the info you need from UnicorNation to get your (newly "acquired") copy of DP runnin' snappily?

I'm so seriously rolling on the floor.
Dang; I had to throw the snappiness (!) concept in too, didn't I?
Typing from the floor...

Another question:
Will the thread turn out to be proof the "no-manual" concept works?
Will my point that a pirate would rather take the easy route (that's why he's a pirate) than wrestle with astute Unicorns, prove to be valid?

What would a politically-incorrect Monkey know anyway?
MM (Still rolling on the ruddy floor!)

PS: Nick, remember, I did say "pretty-please"...

I just see the words "manual" and "PDF" in a title and on go the incontinence underpants in preparation for the biggest laugh of the day. DO NOT make this issue a sticky - it gives too much entertainment.

The imagery here is just too much. But if you MUST ...

The tone of my previous posts was not meant to be negative. I was more amused than anything else. Thought I'm a little bit curious as to what MIDI Life Crisis meant by "BTW, he at no point recoils at the suggestion of piracy. Keyword here; suggestion."

EDIT: I didn't catch the last bit of MIDI's post. No. I don't have a copy of DP. At the moment, I don't even own my own Mac. I'm working my way to a Macbook pro by mid december, then a Traveler, then DP. I've been using Ardour on Fedora Core Linux (this machine I'm on now) and Cubase SX 1 for the last year and three years, respectively.

nickmorgan19457: I'm not sure but I think when you buy the Traveler it will come with a light version of DP called Audio Desk it would be enough to get your feet wet while you save for DP.
Good luck.

Brilliant thinking, Mr. Coyote!

That's basically DP without the MIDI sequencing, Nick.
It rocks for audio recording.

FWIW, I agree on the "no sticky for PDF requests" thing.
Dang, they're rare enough as it is, and variety (and humour) must take precedence over, er, lack of variety and sameness.
I don't wanna end up pasty. Grey, maybe, but not pasty!

Cheers, fellas.

One of the previous "Anyone got a PDF" threads (the Wesley one?) turned out to be very good in the end (as James noted at the time), but I made a small point (lost in all the chat, back-chat etc etc) about where MOTU source their paper from, which no-one picked up on - presumably becasue of the, erm, general excitement.

Maybe many of us arent that environmentally-minded, but I'd feel happier to know that the huge Reference (even at DP3) manual and all the other stuff -Getting Started etc, used ethically sourced materials.

I know this is a slight political hot potato in the States so dont want to go down THAT road (but you INVENTED MCDonald's dammit!!! ).

I made a slightly flippant point that some might be put off buying DP for that reason if they felt strongly enough about it.

Any thoughts?

Les
