How many tracks of EastWest Orch?
I use a Dual 2.5 G5 and DP 4.5. I can get 6 tracks of EastWest Orch happening before the CPU Meter turns red. Is this what everybody else is getting? I'm wanting to compose in Quicksribe, no keyboard, and have it play back without having to print audio. But I'm finding six tracks is the limit. By the way, I listened to the demo on the Notion website, the software that would have made Bach...well you know, It's good, but not as good as the EastWest stuff. I'd appreciate any input on your experience with DP and EastWest.
Thanks!

Re: How many tracks of EastWest Orch?
Something is definitely wrong with your setup - I am using the same computer and even with 4 instances of EWQLSO ( 32 instuments together with lots of plugs, including Altiverb (which is a Hog), I have not had problem with CPU overload.
What audio interface are you using?

Re: How many tracks of EastWest Orch?
Are you using a secondary HD for EastWest Orch,
or are you streaming from your boot drive?
or are you streaming from your boot drive?
Re: How many tracks of EastWest Orch?
As recommended, I use a secondary drive for all my virtual instruments - I think this does make a difference.
With drives so cheap now, there is really no reason not to.

Alan,
How much RAM do you have installed? Where are the samples living? What kind of hard drive, audio interface?

Re: How many tracks of EastWest Orch?
I'm using a 828mkII interface, I have two internal 250 gig hard drives. The sample library is on it's own drive, not the system drive. I have 2 gigs of ram.

Also what sample rate are you working at, and what version of EWQLSO are you using? (Plat., Gold or Silver?)
Re: How many tracks of EastWest Orch?
Sample rate is 96kHz Silver Edition.

Re: How many tracks of EastWest Orch?
Can I ask why are you recording at 96K? That seems over the top for what you are doing. Silver is only a 44.1K/16 bit library.
Re: How many tracks of EastWest Orch?
You are absolutely right. I changed to 44.1 and it has made all the difference. I appreciate your help. I don't know why I didn't think to change the sample rate, my other templates are at 44.1.
