V-Stack changes 828mkii sample rate
Everytime I start V-stack, it changes the sample rate from the 828mkii, which I set to 48kHz, to 44.1kHz. I tried to set it back to 48kHz again, but as soon as I click OK it jumps right back to 44.1. Anyone knows why? Thanks in advance for any help.
The Steinberg apps usually control the rate and clock settings of the hardware from within their own preference panel (bypassing what you've set in the MOTU panel). I haven't heard anything from V-Stack in ages, but if it's got a "Project Settings" area like Nuendo/Cubase, or anywhere in the ASIO hardware config section where you can do that stuff, you might try changing it from there (if it lets you).
Good luck with it,
George
PS- If you are talking about changing it in V-Stack and having it jump back -sorry.
There was a bug between MOTU and the Steinberg apps a while back, which would keep trying to change rates and throwing that "sample rate has changed" message at you, but I think it may have only been with external clock sources (it's been a while).

Thanks George for your response.
V-Stack has the Device Setup, in which you can choose the ASIO driver that you'd use, which is MOTU Audio ASIO in this case. It, however, does not have the sample rate drop down list within itself but the Control Panel button that you can click on and it leads you to the MOTU Audio Setup window. In this window I can change MOTU sample rate back to 48kHz, but the minute that I click OK it comes right back to 44.1kHz. This creates the syncing problem when I try to send audio out of the 828 to Logic, which is running on a Mac at 48kHz.
I installed the latest driver for my 828mkii from MOTU so I hope that whatever bug that it got between MOTU and Steinberg has been fixed.
Still stuck! Any other suggestions, anyone???

Hey again,
Yeah, that sounds about like Nuendo too. The ASIO/devices area has a button to open the MOTU panel (424 here), but I don't think you can make changes with Nuendo open. The actual Project Setup box is in the Project menu (I think). That one has the rate/bit depth settings and some SMPTE crap (session start times & frame rates).
I guess since V-Stack is sort of just a mixer, it may not have all the same prefs, but it would seem like it would need rate and clock source stuff somewhere for VSL connections.
Take care,
George
