828 mkII usb 2.0
Has anybody gotten their hands on the 828 mkII that runs on USB 2.0 instead of firewire? I am getting ready to buy a new audio interface and am looking for opinions on the USB 2.0 model.

I also am interested in this interface, as it avoids the pitfall of clogging the PCI buss. At least on some chipsets you should be able to. Unfortunately most if not all firewire interfaces are going to come thru the PCI buss. Which some of us are populating with DSP cards.
I also wonder if anyone has used teh 828 USB on an Nforce 4 chipset, as this was previously a chipset that had problems with firewire interfaces.

828mkII USB 2
Hello
828mkII USB 2 work just fine I used both the FW and USB2 version and they are exactly the same apart from the way they connect.
And if you are using a PC or PC laptop even more of a reason. If I were to buy another one it would be the USB2.
USB2 is a bit less fagile than firewire as well.

XP USB 828 mk 2
Hi Guys, I've had a USB2 828mk2 for 6 months ish now, all was running fine with a laptop running XP. However I changed to the new drivers and The 828 is useless. Crashes cubase and hangs the machine constantly. Clicks pops and other bad noises come out at random intervals.
Removing the motu drivers in control panel kinda worked but didnt clean the reg enough. Ended up reg editing manually to remove the motu drivers. rebooting and then installing the old driver.
MOTU are very unhelpful when you contact them with an XP user issue. Waited weeks for them to tell me to try switching the voltage to 110 and then back to 240 ?!?!?!? Well im not an electronics expert but strangley it didnt help..
Be careful out there !! I'm going mac next week so hope that'll fix stuff
