Kontakt 2 sounds on MachFive?

Post by rocambole »

Sorry if this information is already present somewhere, but I couldn't trace it through the "serach" menu :

Is it possible to use Kontakt 2 soundbanks on MachFive?

I don't think the Xtract tool recognizes (has an an option) for .nki files. To be honest I have M5 and K2 so I have never really tried to convert. But I'm think I asked this question about version 2 (supporting .nki files) a while ago and it looked doubtful it will even then. I think.

Remember M5 doesn't support scripts or keyswitching - however, M5 version 2 will support keyswitching apparently which is good news. At least for the next generation of DP users. Or the one after that maybe. Or the next.....

UViX does have an option for NKI files, but I don't know if it works because I don't have any.

Bill you're right - my mistake sorry - I was remembering my old copy of 'CD-extract' instead which doesn't have option of .nki files .... I remember now that previous attempts to convert .nki files in mach five using the slightly different 'uvi-xtract' have always resulted in spinning wheel of death, which is why I got confused - I just remembered that I can't convert .nki files, but forgot exactly why...

Perhaps if I was more persistant I could find a way to make it work but I very rarely need to convert files anyway.

Spikey, something similar happens to certain EXS24 files on my system. I'm hoping the next version will handle these formats better.

Kontakt is not available as an Universal Binary so it won't run natively on your MacPro either...
