Hi, we just got some new Intel imacs (64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo) for our electronic studio, but when you click the MIDI tab in "Audio MIDI setup" the programme suddenly shuts down, so I am unable to setup up any MIDI devices.
We're using MOTU ultralight interfaces (also new). It occurred to me that it might have something to do with MIDI drivers, so I trashed them and tried again, but no luck.
Anyone else experience this? Any idea as to what's going on?
Thanks.

Re: Audio MIDI Setup Crashes
More info: Our tech assistant set up the computers, and listed himself as the "Admin" in the "Accounts" section of System Preferences. He subsequently added me as a second admin.
When HE logs in, the MIDI tab of Audio MIDI Setup works, sort of (sometimes it causes the application to crash, but mostly it doesn't. Sometimes it crashes after being open for 10 minutes or so), so you can go ahead and do your MIDI setup.
When I log in, the problem described above occurs, namely clicking on the MIDI tab in Audio MIDI Setup cause the application to terminate abruptly. The same thing happens if anyone else logs in on a different account.
Furthermore, if you setup your MIDI system under our tech assistant's account, then log in on a different account, the MIDI system is not recognized in DP (no synths, patch lists, etc.).
This all seems remarkably strange to me; am I missing something, or has anything like this happened to others?
Thanks.

No, you understand it well.
If you look at the directories on OSX, you'll see that each User has their own Library. Files which need to be accessed by each user should either be moved from you Admin's Library to the Root Library, or they should be copied ("duplicated"?) into each User Library.
These are the only two ways I know of that each user can have access to the exact same data required for a smooth run.
I would try to get in touch with member *sdemott*. He's one of the greatest champions around here when it comes to OSX under the hood.
