Though I feel we might as well be writing this list to the toilet paper rolls that are going to DP's R&D department, here's my 2 cents:
- Fix the current reported bugs
- Better quantizing for automation, á la Cubase or Logic, most importantly so that as you draw the data, the edit points snap to a specified grid.
- Same kind of zoom tools/ buttons for every window
- Snap to grid switch to drum editor
- Floating windows option
- Better performance with VIs
- Tech support that actually knows it's job

More from Middle-earth:
1. Programmable Key Commands for all sticky menu items
2. Expander Paks for MAS Vi's
3. GE:
-- include all 127 cc#s in a list rather than list a few of them with the word "other"
--Change the mouse behavior back to *normal* so that the correct pictch sounds regardless of what part of the cursor touches the color MIDI graphic bar when moved
4. Integrated VI Patch Name management within DPs various windows
5. Bring back independent meter monitors for multiprocessors
6. Better Self Help:
--Improve site help documents with more details
--Include better descriptions of troubleshooting issues not included in the manual
-- Include a more useful online search engine that actually FINDS important self help docs
--Include more detailed white papers on attested glitches and their fixes
--Include a proper version update history more akin to this:
http://www.audioease.com/Pages/Altiverb ... story.html
--Offer a newsletter or add a proper online news page with important communications for MOTU users-- such as why MachFive 2 is late and why customers might want to wait for it
--Offer some information on how DP works on different Mac systems and stats on important known hardware and plugin incompatibilities

DP seems to hate admitting to ANY problems and surely doesn;t seem to be willing to actually POST "bug" fixes which would be admitting to problems..I think MOTU has shown itself to be all smiles and very sensitive to admitting problems..
thus, I doubt they'd post a list of fixes...

:: Contextual menus. It seems like every other app I know makes use of these types of menus and they are invaluable for easing repetitive stress syndrome.
:: More preferences, especially for the graphic editors (controller types, etc).
:: More sophisticated controller handling, including key-switching lanes and an option to snap controller envelopes to notes.
:: Take the math out of calculating SMPTE start times. In other words, be able to insert a start time at any measure and not just at the start of the sequence.
:: Flexible timeline display: Allow the user to hide unused bars.
:: Audio assignment dialog box to include MIDI tracks as well as audio.
:: Custom color preferences, so that I can globally tie colors to track types and not have to set them each time.
:: Toggled faders for any controller in the mixing window, so I NEVER have to look at another custom console again!

I mute MIDI notes by dragging them up or down out of the range of the instrument loaded (I mainly do this when using VSL orchestral instruments, most of which don't cover the whole note range). I always drag the note to the same pitch (just different octave) so it's usually quite easy to bring it back the the original place again.toodamnhip wrote:Muteable MIDI notes so I can try diferent ideas out in the same MIDI track
Crude and limited technique, but that's my trademark....

Anyway I'll second your call for MIDI note mute (sort of greyed out or whatever). Great idea.

I'm tired of saying this, but...
Compression (2 or 3 flavours).
Convolution and artificial reverb.
Bread-and-butter VI.
Mach V light
or
MSI and Ethno's libraries stripped and included in the bread-and-butter VI.
No new technology here and therefore minimal risk of added instability.
I don't want to be forced to deal with any unnecessary extras.
A useable, all-in-one DP that can be taken to greater heights should the budget etc. require it, is all I hope for.
Why should Fruit Hoops, Shed Ensemble and Treason all feature more professional-sounding reverbs? The app costs enough, surely?
Aimed at professionals? At least give them a full, useable palette of processors.
Individual tastes can be acommodated by additional purchases...

I hope what you're saying applies to plug-ins and VI's only.monkey man wrote:...I don't want to be forced to deal with any unnecessary extras.

With all due respect, it's a little difficult to purchase "additional" functionality for the DP application itself. Just because a program is rich with features, doesn't mean every user has to use every feature. For me personally, I never use Device Groups. Does that mean DP shouldn't have them? Of course not.
Quad G5 - 4GB RAM; PB 17" 1.5 GHz - 1GB RAM; OS 10.4.8, DP 5.11, Digi 002R, Mbox, Pro Tools LE 7.1, DV Toolkit 2, Music Production Toolkit, MachFive, NI Komplete2, EWQLSO GOLD, MemoryMoog Plus
I'm talking about DP5.11 not DP6, can't wait anymore.....
Please , please , please , I want to be able to control my master volume with my Mackie control when it's in a V-Rack.
Or beeing able to control everything in the V-rack would be nice ..... no , not nice a Must.
Also I'd like to have a way to assign "Solo" to another physical output.
That would make my SpectraFoo really happy!
In another subject , I would love to have a "master volume" in Cue mix , that would control the "whole she-bang".
(or anybody knows how to lower the bell in Toast?)
