Phil,Phil Jeffers wrote:So for new projects on DP 5.1 should I only be using AU versions of Waves plugs? (Have V5.2.1 Platinum installed) or is using MAS still advantageous even though Waves haven't given 5.1 the nod?
MAS Waves was very unstable in 5.1 for me - now using only AU, DP opens very quickly, is far more CPU efficient, pre-rendering works for Waves plugs - not on aux or master channels - generally it's just a lot better.

Lots of stuff and a recently acquired ability to stop buying
Another question is why should Waves "waste" their time for fixing MAS versions, when they are aware of that DP/AU is working fine..
I worked yesterday a whole day with AU and MAS Waveshells installed. Didn't have a single crash. I was doing a new project using only AU Waves and lots of VIs too. So it seems that it's possible to keep DP stable when both Waveshells are in use.

Works fine for me with v5.7 on my G5, both wavesheels loaded and fine v5.9 on my MacBook. Just did some long testing yesterday will all my junk running.

Phil,
With the MAS shells, DP took over a MINUTE to start up on my computer (RenMaxx Bundle, IR-1, IR-L, Tune Lite, RenAxx). Now that I've removed the MAS shells, startup time is about 15 seconds.
I have yet to thoroughly test the stability of the AU versions but it seems to work great for others, judging by what I've read here.

Yeah, but the AU loading will take the same or more time for each time you load a plug, so just forget the whole thing. I mean, every project where you use each and every variety of your Waves plugins the load time will be the same adding up each plugin loading vs the initial loading of MAS, so it's not as great as it seems.666 wrote:Phil,

See MAS gets all the loading done initially so when you need the plug while working you get it faster. How many projects could you actually do where you don't find a use for every installed plugin??! Might as well go with MAS it seems.

No that is not a typo. Waves V5.7 or 5.9 5.7 = PPC, 5.9 = Intelstickwolf wrote:5.7?? Is that a typo?

I'm also confused. If I go to Waves download page, I can only find option to download version 5.2 ..? Is that 5.7/5.9 version this ( http://waves.com/content.asp?id=2228 ) intel demo version or how did you get the 5.7 version?

I did a V 1.0 update to my SSL plugins it installed a Waveshell 5.7 then when I did the intel update it installed a Waveshell V 5.9
And as far as I can tell, my Ren Bundle was updated to 5.7 as well on the PPC.

The advantage for me is that I can use more plug-ins at once if I use the AU versions. It is worth the wait (even though it sucks to wait).stickwolf wrote:Yeah, but the AU loading will take the same or more time for each time you load a plug, so just forget the whole thing. However, I've decided to go back to the MAS versions because of a reason I haven't seen discussed here (maybe it was mentioned but I didn't notice). The reason is this: If I'm using RenVerb or IR-1 and I stop playback, the reverb stops dead in its tracks. I CAN'T STAND THAT! When I stop playback, I want to hear the reverb tail ring on. It just drives me nuts. That pretty much negates everything else for me. It's possible that delay plug-ins would behave similarly, but I really can't say because I don't have any WAVES delay plug-ins. Maybe someone can give it a try?
