Networking to PC via firewire/USB

Please forgive a "newbie" to Macs and networking.

I have heard, that this is a way of 'networking' a mac and a PC via firewire/USB using MS and Apples remote accessing features. Could anyone tell me if this is true, and if so, explain how I would go about this?

Mac = Dual G4 450 (AGP Graphite?) OS9, 10.3 and 10.4

PC = PIV 1GHz WinXP Pro SP1

Any other (low cost) simple suggestions?

What are you trying to do? I do not know of a way but perhaphs there is a way. I have 2 mac's and 2 pc's they are linked via a ethernet network, this works fine.

you may be better off just using ethernet to link the two computers. pick up a cheap 10/100 switch and go from there.

This is what I had heard about. I'll try this option first as firewire connections already present on both machines.

I'll 'eventually' get around to going the ethernet route, but have enough headaches already.

How did it turn out? I've tried this and failed , would love to get it working.
