I'm don't want to turn this thread into a 'what keyboard' thread but just wanted to add by way of closure that, after some more tinkering today, that I'm now probably going to go for a Yamaha P70 - a bit more expensive and with less (well actually no) knobs and faders (or useless transport buttons!) but just the most superb action. Yes, a very realistic piano feel but even if that's not the main goal it's just extremely playable to the point of being truly 'performance inspiring'.

I put the UF8 a bit above above the Keystation 88 pro for playability - both are quite different - personal preference etc etc - I just prefer a bit more weight and rebound which the UF8 has over the Keystation. But the Yamaha P70 is in a completely different league altogether! Ok it's about a quarter as much again price wise as either of the other two but I'd say much better value if playing action is the main consideration.

For the cheapest 'pro' (an awful term, sorry) 88 key h/action keyboard for piano/orchestral libraries etc this looks like the one to me.

It will require separate mod and pitch bend if needed - I never use pitch bend and prefer a separate knob for mod anyway.

Hope that's of some use to anyone else in my position :)

The UF7 has been fine for me, but I didn't seriously pursue using the transport keys. nothing's really faster than the mac keyboard, since i'm constantly using it to locate anyway, and for which there's more than enough space for atop the UF7
Faders work perfectly with B4II, and the knobs seem pre-mapped well in many VI's etc. I'm running it over MIDI due to problems over USB when I got it.

I have a BIG MIDI problem right now which I'm going to cross-post here, but please answer in the new thread "MIDI Patch thru killed during playback or record"
When patching thru to either a VI (Stylus RMX) or an instrument (AKAI S6000 in this case), it works perfectly with the transport stopped, but the second I go into play or record it doesn't patch thru. What am I missing, I checked all prefs. THANKS!
