rezin8...are you still here?
Hi,
As you can see in my post, http://www.unicornation.com/phpBB2/view ... hp?t=13793 I'm having similar problems that you and others experienced in your original thread.
While I'm semi-literate regarding computers, undertaking your recommended fix will be my deepest dive yet. And I must admit, I'm very apprehensive about trying this but my back is against the wall at this point.
I have a question regarding something in your instructions. The only only sp2.cab file I can find (using Search) is a zip file. Is this the correct one? Also, is the file you refer to when instructing to rename to sp2_dead.cab? If not, where is the correct one located? Your post said, "location see above". But I never saw the location you referenced.
Also, if I set a restore point before performing this delicate "operation", will this protect me in case I lose the patient on the table. IOW, what would the worst case scenario be if I blunder?
I have already unpdated to sp2 per the instructions on the MOTU install disk.
Thanks,
Earl

Yes sp2.cab is a zip (compressed) file.
Your search should show the location.
I don't use system restore .... can't help ya there.
Worst thing I could see happen ..... you hose your IEEE1394 drivers.
If that where to happen, it should be as easy as ... correctly naming sp2.cab back and re-boot.
Windows should detect the hardware and reinstall the sp2 drivers from the .cab file. If not, you should be able to via the Device Manager.
Below is a link to the same information regarding this fix.

Hope this helps.

~It all works out in the end~
Ken,
I found the sp2.cab folder and got the recommended files from it.
I tried the fix and when I get to the point of re-installing the drivers at Device Manager, I point to the 1394_fix folder I created (with the drivers in it) but the driver install thing doesn't see anything in the folder except the 1394.inf file.
?????
Thanks for your help.
