It also crashes with nothing open, trying to create a new song.
When asking where to save, this appears:
"An error occurred while writing to the disk. The
file New File was not saved.
ID=-8796 Try to save your file on another disk or folder, or
with a different name."
And then crashes.

Is this happening on both your G4 and Powerbook or only on one? If it's just one, which computer gives you this warning?cyborg haines wrote:It also crashes with nothing open, trying to create a new song.

If it's happening on your G4, you won't get very far with 768MB of RAM.

5.1 is SLOW - just ran a few tests against other hosts - basically the same file - in Live and Logic - and they both screamed on it - DP... whamp whamp whamp...
It looks good - but OMG... I have to wonder what is going on under the hood. Completely lame!
Why does Logic just scream no matter how many plugs you throw at it? (within reason)
Even the demo file that came with dp runs at about 40% CPU usage. - and its only like 4 virtual tracks!
Dissapointed!

The MAS version of AT3 is also crashtastic. Running the VST version under the VST wrapper works.chrispick wrote:To add to the mix: MAS versions of Antares Auto Tune 4 are crashing DP 5.1. The latest AU version is loading fine however.
This, together with the Mach 5 issue, suggests to me something funky happened to MAS plugin handling in 5.1.

Check some of the earlier comments in this thread -- once people updated to MachFive 1.2.3, the crashing stopped. You should probably manually delete the MachFive MAS.bundle before running the updater, since it doesn't always seem to replace it for you.mongoose wrote:The MAS version of AT3 is also crashtastic. DP 5.1 & MSI 1.1.2
The MSI 1.1.2 read me says:kelldammit wrote:msi is fooked, from what i can tell. if i install the AU version only, dp skips it on the scan, and leaves a note in the au inspection log: "use the MAS version". so, if i install the MAS version, it simply never shows up, because afaik, the MAS version isn't intel compat...
this is latest and greatest, 1.1.2.
anyone else having this problem?
this is on a fresh install, btw. the au works fine in metro ub.

I asked tech support and they said an update is coming "real soon."Attention Digital Performer users: An Intel-compatible MAS version is expected to be released concurrently with the Intel-native version of Digital Performer. Please visit motu.com for the latest information.

Could that funky something be... optimizations?mongoose wrote:This, together with the Mach 5 issue, suggests to me something funky happened to MAS plugin handling in 5.1.

Whooaa Unicorners!
Seems to me we all need to take a deep breath and RTFPDF.
The Gods of MOTU know the score; it's up to us to catch up now.
I mean, we of all folk should know better.
They've been listening to our complaints.
They seem to have most things covered...
So, why don't we try assuming operator error first before we go jumping to conclusions?
The bedroom newbies are supposed to be able to look to us for, um, guidance, hope, and possibly a better (pro) way of doing things.
Well, look at us!

GREAT! Glad you are getting things sorted out. . .bone.china wrote:Sorry, but you have misunderstood me. I was referring to an earlier post in the thread that I made. <delete for brevity> It's too early to tell but I have good experience with the problem to at least provide me the motivation to crack the joke.

Yeah, this thread would be a few pages shorter if everyone had RTFPDF and followed the instructionsmonkey man wrote: So, why don't we try assuming operator error first before we go jumping to conclusions?
