Mixed ITB in DP461 w/ stock DP plugs, PSP MixPack and PSP VW:

Rick Read on a Chapman Stick, Mark Cook on a Warr guitar and Boomerang, and yours truly on drums. Both of those guitars have two outputs, a high and low side, so those were recorded direct to four channels. I tried keeping them separated with EQ, and by panning either left, center or right (with the occasional stereo delay effect).

This started as a sixteen minute free form jam, and I edited it to under five minutes. I thought some of you might be interested in the editing and automation on this mix (this image shows the four guitar parts; the drums aux is the top layer shown, and what's being automated is the reverb mix):

This is the first half. You may notice that I mix with a mouse, not a control surface. Only with a mouse, can you change panning or volume within a thousandth of a second (or less!).

Your comments, mocking remarks and insults are welcomed.

wow. very trippy...and nice work on the editing. it sounds seamless.
i like how everything has its own sonic space...and though there aren't a lot of instruments, you have a pretty full-bodied picture going on.
i really like the swelled guitar starting around 2:25, and the pad (guitars as well?) on the left, starting at :35...very nice.
the drums sound good, with a nice balance with the cymbals. is that room sound, or verb?
the only thing i could think to suggest is a more "common" room sound across the instruments to make them sound more like they're all playing together in one room. i didn't get much sense of that overall...for instance, the guitars seem very dry as compared to the much "roomier" sounding drums. pretty minor thing, and not necessarily something you may have been going for in the first place.
nice work!

Thanks for the comments, Kell!

Here's yet another mix I did this week. This is from a session I recorded on DP in 2003, so it was probably OS9 and DP3.x, but the mixing was on DP461/10.3.9. Again, I use PSP MixPack, PSP Vintage Warmer, and stock DP plugs. I did a really crap job of recording the snare on this one (all kinds of bleed to try to fix).

This is a bit more rock and roll than the first tune I posted on this thread. And the tune sounds familiar, and I'm not sure if the other players were making it up, or if this is a cover. If anybody can enlighten me, I'll change the title accordingly:

If anybody has comments on the instrument levels, EQ, and overall mix, I'd like to hear them. Thanks!
