My only mention of freeze was to see if it worked in relation to BTD since they are similar in the fact that audio is written out to disk.

I too use a second computer with KORE for the same reason, so I don't have to freeze anything. Works rather nice, although KORE is a bit of a pain at the moment, that is probably going to go and I will continue to use Rax.

When you are bouncing, do you see the synths running on the other machine or have you already recorded them down?

Does MOTU respond to tech support emails anymore? Still haven't heard anything back from them.

If you just don't know where the file was saved, start the bounce process again and look at the bottom of the window. It should indicate where the file is being saved. Then cancel the bounce and go look to see if your original file is there.

Well, unless you directed it otherwise, it should be in the "Audio Files" folder of your current DP Project. That's the default route.

Not there? Run a name search via Spotlight.

They are using 10.3.9....no spotlight :) Hehe, I use spotlight ALL THE TIME when I forget where I put a sample, file, movie, whatever.

I know it adds overhead, but damn, it helps me find stuff!!!

OK - I've tried AIFF, the builtin SDII, Movie, everything. Nothing but dead air. What am I doing wrong?

* I can hear the tracks fine when I play back

* I bring up the tracks window and then select All
* Then, I choose Bounce to Disk
* I select MP3 (or whatever) and click OK

HELP! I can't get any response from MOTU tech support. Is Kafka in the room?

Wow, yeah something is seriously wrong here. Never seen that happen.

Questions and suggestions:

Q: If you create a new project and add some stuff and try to bounce, same thing? Is it happening on everything?

Q: If you try freezing a track, just pick one, does it record blank audio as well?

Q: Did you try trashing your preferences and having DP build a new set?

Q: Did you try a reinstall?

Q: Did you try repairing permissions? Sometimes this helps.

That's all I got. Also, did you try calling MOTU instead of emailing them?

Could be a stupid question, but, have you checked that you've selected the correct output bus in the BTD dialogue?

I've had 'dead air' bounces a few times when I forgot to check the output bus and it was set to one of my other outputs for some reason.

Checked and re-checked. Everything is set to Main 1-2.

Also, I trashed my prefs and checked the permissions on the DP folder. I even opened new and older projects. Still nothing.

OK - some progress. Freezing the tracks worked. I'm able to bounce the frozen tracks to disk. What does this mean?

Were you trying to Bounce-To-Disk VI tracks?

DP will only 'bounce' actual audio tracks and not the output of the 'unfrozen' VI's.

Dude, had you even mentioned VIs in your original post this problem would've been solved a long time ago. I'm glad you figured it, but next time try to be specific with your query info. It could save you a lot of time and anguish.

To clarify: Bounce-to-disk (BTD) via your master-out only sums audio tracks. VIs tracks must be converted to audio track either via freezing or merely routing and recording to an empty track (which is what freezing does in an automated way) before you can BTD.

These are NOT virtual instrument tracks. These are real audio tracks (of me playing the drums).

Do you have more than one 'Main Out' defined in your AudioBundles? If so, maybe you are selecting the one in BTD that doesn't come from anywhere.
