DP 5 does really freeze track?
Hi all of u. I'm new here.
I just upgrade to DP5 and saw a little thing i really don't understand.
When I freezed track on DP4.5 it takes voice off from MIDI and instrument track. I just do the same on DP5 and this thing not happend. I can still play MIDI track and not optimization is made.
Anyone can help me on this?

Grammar was a bit confusing. DP takes a LONG road to freezing verses other apps. Instead of an offline freeze like Logic or Cubase, DP does a realtime freeze.
All these apps create an audio track of what you have going on with the "frozen" track. DP just takes the long road... Coffee break anyone.... My those clouds are pretty today... Honey did you bring the Camera...

Don't even get me started on the freeze funciton.
What I WANT to do is bounce to disk and not have to record all the VI's first. I usually DO NOT freeze anything since I am making so many changes to it. So to get a sample of the song I have to:
1. freeze all the VIs.
2. Record all the external gear
3. bounce to disk.
I'd rather skip step 1 and save 33% of the time.
As a side note, yes, I know I could just keep the freeze tracks and then just rerecord the VI's while I am doing 2, it's just I get so many tracks in the project at that point, it is annoying.
I want Freeze to be NOT real time, like BTD, so I don't get any spikes on overloaded plugins. It makes no sense to me that it freezes realtime.

Sorry for my grammar.
But still can't understand.
I freeze track with no problem. The problem is that the "MIDI" & "instrument" tracks still active. And when I play, both sounds "the freeze track" + "MIDI & inst" sounds together.
Yes I can mute, MIDI & inst but what I suppose must happend is that DP disable those tracks.
It's clear now?

I understand your question. It's not disabling the instrument for you.
I thought when I froze, it disables the original instrument but leaves the MIDI on. Are you not seeing that? The track disable/enable is new in DP5 and different than the mute stuff.

No problem, that is weird it didn't, I know mine has before, but then another time I thought it didn't!
Strange.

It says in the manual that DP deliberately doesn't disable the VI that's been frozen in case it's a multi-timbral VI and you still need to access other channels on it.Guruluku wrote:I freeze track with no problem. Yes I can mute, MIDI & inst but what I suppose must happend is that DP disable those tracks.
ie. You're running EWQLSO (which has 8 channels of orchestral sounds) and decide to freeze one of the instruments becuase you've finished working on it but want to keep working on one of the other sounds. So you select the MIDI track you want to freeze then select the VI track and do a freeze.
So that's why they do it. It behaves slightly differently to freezing an audio track, which does disable the original track automatically.
