Strange problem Im having with model 12

Post by ericjustin »

This may be a problem with my cheap M-Audio Soundcard, but Im not sure. Here is the problem. I write a drum sequence useing mode 12 and loop it. ( useing the memory cycle, not the loop comand) after a few minutes of play, the durm sequence stops sounding. I figured out that if I change the audio output to none, and then back to the M-audio soundcard that it temporarily fixes the problem, till it happens again. Anybodu have this problem?

I've had issues with PlugSound soft sampler, and Crystal softsynth failing to respond - I see the indicator blink that it's receiving MIDI input, but no sound. I've not had this audio output failure with any of the bundled instruments.

I'm using an 828 for output. Re-launching cures this ill.

I am having the same problem using memory loop with Model 12. Just using the built in audio out on my G5 dual, so I think it's software related, nothing to do with yr hardware. Saving, closing and re-opening the project is my workaround - don't have to launch relaunch DP.

Have you tried running without looping? Using memory loop might be the problem especially when our are looping back to the beginning of the sequence which has not worked properly since DP 4.12 (e.g. MIDI data not followed if on the first tick of the sequence/loop). Something to try anyway.

Not great for productivity and definitely not great for using it live which is something I was hoping to do.

I've had pretty much the same problem.
I'll use Model12 on a long sequence and inevitably after some minutes of playback it'll stop producing sound (not all at once either... maybe one sound at a time will drop out until only the kick responds irregularly, and then goes silent itself). If I disable the Model12 VI track and then re-enable it, the problem is fixed.
It is very irritating, since with long tracks (7 minutes or so) it will tend to drop out maybe 6 minutes into playback, making it very difficult to produce a master stereo track (I often have to bounce the first half of the track, disable and re-enable the Model12 track, bounce the second half, then splice them together. Not fun at all, and it's definitely been steering me away from Model12 (and now with DP 5.1 and the latest Battery upgrade, that option seems much quicker and quite a bit more appealing).

oh... also that happens regardless of whether I'm using a MIDI loop or memory loop. Just playing the sequence straight through I know I'll probably experience some kind of Model12 drop out.

So are we the only ones who have experienced this problem? Could it be a quirk of hardware/software configuration? (I, for one, have my work priority set to low, and host buffer multiplier set to 4... the weird setup required to get DP working with a Firepod).
