By that I mean that if I'm recording a large number of audio tracks at the same time, some mono outputs do not play through my digi hardware. The mixing board onscreen says everything is playing (there are meter readings) but there is no audio showing at the hardware end. Very annoying if I have a session with a lot of live players and suddenly the hi hat doesn't play through. I have to assign the track to another output and then reassign it to the correct one. Sometimes this fixes the issue and sometimes I have to reboot in order to get it to work. This problem seems to happen when I switch chunks within a project. Anyone else have the same thing happening?
YES! I have this problem in 4.61 and was hoping that 5.01 would fix it but 5.01 ended up being so buggy for me it was unusable. I remember someone on here saying they'd never go back to 4.61 and digi hardware because 5.01 was so rock-solid. I wish!

I also have noticed that some tracks will just not play at their proper volume after a while. This disappearing audio/wrong volume thing happens to me so often that I routinely Apple-W (close session) and reopen, especially before a client session or when I am ready to print a mix. Because of the nature of my work, commercial music and sound design, which is fast paced, varied and dense, I simply won't notice some tracks disappearing in the middle of a session. It's scary!

MOTU should do a better of communicating with ProTools Hardware customers... they should have a dedicated page for us addressing on-going issues. I find the best information I can get on this stuff over the years has been through trial and error and searching this board for posts by other digi users.

That said, Digi should do a much better job communicating with us too, considering how much more the hardware costs than the software.
I had some volume issues when I first tried using DP5. I haven't noticed them since, but then again, I've had so many other problems that it's hard to notice vol changes when your rig keeps crashing.
As of tonight, I'm back to 4.6 until this stuff gets sorted out. I struggled with DP5 tonight for 2 hours and gave up. I dumped prefs and rebooted in 4.6 and finished the mix of my score. I can't afford to waste even a few more minutes on trouble shooting.

Knowing Digi, the MOTU DAE thing is something they probably 'tolerate' more than 'support'. I'm surprised they even agreed to it in the first place considering their monopoly mentality.

I'm sorry to hear that this isn't working real well, becuase I was thinking of taking my version of DP to the studio I record at to use with their PT-HD system, but now I think it's safer to just use Pro Tools and mix my final music mixes in that.

Maybe Digi did stuff in the upgrade to version7 that they didn't fully inform MOTU about.
Well I'd say it can't hurt to try it. I'm running PT 6.9 and haven't upgraded to Tiger yet because I'm not interested in paying for another Digi upgrade when things are relatively stable.

I guess part of my criticism is that I can't even get a handy chart that tells me that DP 5 is recommended with PT 7.x and tiger, so why pay for more upgrades when you don't know what the result will be?

Motu states that DP5 should work with PT7, which it does. But they don't have a fourm or any way to get the finer details out. Such as don't use PT7.1cs8, instead use PT7.1cs7 with DP5.01. We would never know this unless someone calls up a tech and gets the info that way. It would be much easier for everyone involved, including MOTU tech people if they just posted this kind of information for us. MOTU tech doesn't do me any good at 11:30pm in the middle of a session, when I really need it most.
At least Digi has extensive information on compatiblity both for hardware and software and is very good at keeping it updated.
