MachFive + Symphonic Instrument + PC = Problem

Post by i am monster face »

Well, it's come to this. I've had MachFive for a few months now and I really do love it. It's a fun program to use. It's easy, CPU efficient, and just sounds nice. However, as mentioned in the Poll thread, I am having an issue with it.

I sent an e-mail to Motu last week, no reply yet, but I would really like this to work. I understand the good people at Motu are hard at work attempting to resolve my issue (hopefully) but I thought I should check here first as to possibly expedite the process.

I know that Motu released an update for MachFive on OSX in October of 2005 that allows me to use my Symphonic Instrument samples in MachFive on my G4 laptop. It works very well. However, when there was no update that I can find that allows MachFive to work with SI on my PC. The issue is that I went ahead and bought MachFive for my homebuilt PC (my main daw - my G4 is what I use when I'm on the road and such and transferring sessions) as they are two seperate software pieces and I cannot, for the life of me, get Symphonic Instrument to work in MachFive.

I guess I should have researched it a bit better before I went ahead and bought MachFive again. However, the last update for MachFive on PC is from 2004. I'm really itching to get this to work.

Has anyone been able to accomplish this? If they have, how in the world have they done it?

Thanks for your time,
Ian Aeillo

Let me tell you about the good people at MOTU. Not.

I can't run Mach five these days at all. $400 for nothing. They claim it's ProTools, it's funny since the only time I have trouble with ProTools is when the Mach Five plug in is installed.

I have been working with a good people (tech) at MOTU named Nathan. He is extremely condescending, I had to send him a screen shot to prove I knew what I was talking about and then when I asked him what was up with the ProTools Crash Log, in which MachFive is mentioned numerous times, he told me that there was no indication that MachFive was causing a problem. I am here to tell you otherwise.

I have been very nice to Nathan so far. That is now officially over.

Thanks but no thanks.

Done with it••¦

MOTU will never get another dime from me.

I would urge anyone stumbling in here to check out MachFive to look elsewhere. It is not supported well at all, they are painfully slow with revisions and it just plain doesn't work.

I hope some are warned before this post is deleted, which I would assume won't take long.

peace
