All DP plus VG2 & HyperSonic2

Post by Timeline »

This is a work in progress composed as a film cue but it includes some fun tones from Virtual Guitar 2 and Hypersonic 2 VI's. Title: "War For Oil".

Used Proteus/3 world for many of the eastern and ethnic sounds.

Plan to cut it down eventually.

Suggestions welcomed.

I like it Gary. I didn't get a chance to hear it through decent speakers though... heard it on my iBook. You shouldn't have told me the guitar was a VI though. :-) I'm so biased against those. Had a very cool feel though and I really liked the section where something that sounded like bagpipes entered... that was really a cool sound in combination. Definitely a film cue though... really begs for visuals to go with it. Very effective though. Nice job.

Thanks James. Just putting a few score/compositions together for a film demo reel. This one was my end of the world ••••.

Plan to add a few explosions and such. Solo (Les Paul) screamin guitar would also be nice. Know anyone? :)

Your song has some cool elements. At the beginning the voice synth sounds a bit strange as if the sound has a very fast attack/ release comp on it or something. The mix is nice also though I prefer a little more air on the master eq.

Good job 8)

Thanks that's what I wanted.

it was a Vintage warmer squash for the mp3 out of DP on a master fader.

My idea here was to make the track as "in your face and grungy" as possible, even distorted.

There is nothing clean about "War for Oil".

Could use a few explosion sound effects if anyone wants to donate...

Hey X that would be cool. If you want just download the song and throw a couple in 48K 24bit in a DP file.

let me know when you have it and I will PM or email a fetch shortcut to upload it to, that is if you have a few minutes. I can rearrange but the placement might be more fun for you. If I ever release it or it's used I'll give you some credit. Thanks

Hey Gary, I immediately thought "sound track" upon hearing your mix. It's very cinematic and well suited for a film cue. About 2/3 of the way in, it sounds like you're about to introduce an Arabic sounding theme that dissipates quickly, and I'd like to suggest that you develop that further.

My only technical critique: I'm listening on my laptop, and the mix appears to have some buildup on the lower and mid-frequencies. However, that would not be totally out of character for a "heavy" film cue, as it leaves plenty of sonic space for dialog on top. Good work!
