Akai Piano's

Has anyone tried importing from "The Ultimate Piano Collection" off the soundonline sale?? Just wondering if the conversion worked easily via UVIX?

Man!!

Sorry I can't answer your question-- but I had to thank you for the link. The demo was so much better than I expected. For that close-mic'd studio session sound this was very impressive. Again, at that price it's a must-have.

Yeah seems pretty cool, especially for such small file size!! Let me know how it converts when you get it. I ordered it anyway but as I'm in Australia it'll be a few weeks til I see it...

I grabbed that one & it converts pretty easily, the split velocity are actually different patches, so I haven't figured out the best way to manage that. They do sound good (for $20 c'mon!)

I thought it would be good to have stuff like this for the laptop

Karl--

Is there any indication of the velocity mapping? The velocity x-over points?

I'm glad to hear that it converted well. (You are using M5, aren't you?) There was some concern about converting by virtue of an Akai caveat Shooshie pointed out:

PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO EXTENSIVE PROGRAMMING THAT WILL NOT IMPORT CORRECTLY INTO AKAI "COMPATIBLE" SAMPLERS WE RECOMMEND USING THIS LIBRARY ONLY WITH AKAI SAMPLERS.

That, of course, was posted years ago before the days of the true universal software sampler. It seems that as long as the collection converts well, the rest of it could be mapped easily enough-- although it may not be a fast process.

Hey-- I've never mapped a piano before. This could be the most fun for $20 since....

... oh, never mind!

Frodo,

I have to admit I'm not a power used of Mach 5 & have mostly used it on the stuff that converted relatively easily. I'm going to play with it when I get some time & see what I can set up. I'll get back to you.
