EMU patchmix vs MOTU cuemix

Post by lovefreq »

can any of you guys route/patch asio instruments into cubase or nuendo via cuemix? or is cuemix just there for the ins and outs of the motu hardware?

(i have an old motu mk2 so im a bit behind in the motu world)

asio patching and routing is made very easy with EMU patchmix!
i was playing about with it today! you can link anything to anything internally (audio) its brilliant !!

im looking to purchase either a MOTU traveler or a EMU 1616m for a laptop the traveler looks top notch to me (expandable) i want to stick to MOTU but need to be able to patch n route asio? so im stuck between two options still no contact from MOTU! errgg

peace

Cuemix is only for monitoring the inputs on the MOTU itself.
Has nothing to do with your sequencer, host OS, etc..

hi thanks for your reply!

Ive spent so many hours trying to figue out how to patch/route
stand alone software (non rewire)audio devices into cubase/nuendo

I thought that was what ASIO was all about.

but with MOTU 2408mk2 you cant you have to go out of the interface and back in ..hard wire with cables latency and ineficent patching!!! errg

im planning on selling my motu 2408mk2 and tascam interfaces to upgrade!

but i need a patchbay! i dont wanna buy a EMU 1616m cause its not as expandable as a MOTU!

but what else can i do ? i cant be the only person that needs this! we need a software patchbay that see's all hardware and software and lets you patch and route as you please.... just like emu patchmix!

many thanks for you reply! if i find anything i'll post it here!

hello i emailed MOTU about patching stand alone software sythns (non rewire/vst) into cubase and got this reply regarding the motu Traveler

ME: hello (blah blahshort intro)

Q:With the E-MU soundcard serise there is a function called Patchmix DSP
> which allows you to route stand alone 'non' vst synths into Nuendo via
> inserts into the patchmixer whist the card is fully connected to nuendo
> and all in's and outs fully functioning.
>
> can the traveler patch and route like the ASIO system E-MU have on
> their
> cards?

MOTU : Yes it can.

ME:
> Is it possible to route stand alone 'non vst' software synths into
> cubase
> using using the travelers in's and outs at the same time?

MOTU: Yes you can do exactly this.
