Just thought I'd share a little good news.
FXTeleport.com will "supposedly" be releasing software in the next couple of months that allows slaving other computers without the need for MIDI or audio interfaces on the slave systems. This is done via LAN (ethernet) connection and latency is not an issue, apparently.
They're already doing this successfully with PCs and Macs are coming up. I don't know if this is "news" to anyone, but if I had to dig for it, then it may well be helpful to those without experience using a shovel...
It will run VST hosts. Does that mean DP with a wrapper? I don't know. That's what faith and hope are for... But rewire may make some things possible.
All in all, it's just good to know something like this is on its way for us Mac heads.

They've been telling me a Mac version was in the works for three years. I contacted them personally as a friend of mine is on the Beta test team for the PC version. They told me they'd let me know when it was available so I could be a beta tester as well, I've heard nothing.
I'd LOVE to try it, but just can't hold my hopes up any higher after waiting this long.

Re: Networking Mac To PC via LAN
If you are a 10.4 user, this is MIDI over lan is built into osx. Create a port in the Audio/MIDI setup utiliy. I use this all the time to sync 2 different machines, or send MIDI to another machine.bOing wrote:Just thought I'd share a little good news.

Is there something better about the FXteleport method?

FXTeleport handles MIDI *and* audio over LAN.quadrupolesmurf wrote: If you are a 10.4 user, this is MIDI over lan is built into osx. Create a port in the Audio/MIDI setup utiliy. I use this all the time to sync 2 different machines, or send MIDI to another machine.
