Compatibility of Akai and other 3rd party samples

Post by summer2000 »

Does anyone know if Akai samples as well as other formats that were converted to MachFive format will be compatible with MachFive 2?

Or will we have to reconvert the original sample disks to MachFive 2 all over again to take advantage of the new features of the M5 2 engine?

I ask because I just bought a new extermal Western Digital 500gb harddrive and I was planning on converting all of my Akai, Giga,Halion, and Kontakt samples to M5 format. But I don't want to bother with all the hassle if those converted samples will not be 100% fully compatible with M5 2.

Any info will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm going to be Mr Negative - what if Mach5v2 never arrives? There are clearly some very difficult issues with it - they had a rough version of it to show off well over a year ago... what if it's a turkey?

Just use MachFive for what it's capable of now. For what I want, it's excellent. It may well end up being a Betamax, SACD or BSB - superior to the competition, not a survivor, but perfectly functional.

don't worry

Machfive 2 is coming don't worry about that (I know some of the guys at UVI). its engine is already running in two products (Motu Ethnic and UVI Plugsound Pro). I think Machfive 2 development took lots of money and UVI must release several products with its engine to get some cash back.

I really think summer namm is the time...

OK, have your contacts at UVI ever hinted at the reason for the delay? My thinking is that it would be out in the market if it worked properly. There must be (or at least there must have been at some point) very serious issues with its functionality/profitability/operability.
