monitor problem/ bad video card??

Post by scooter »

I'm trying to tech this myself. I've ruled out my NEC monitor being bad. I was getting a message on the monitor saying 'Check video connection" then it turns off. Now I'm coming out of the other digital out of the video card (of the G5) with a brand new cord and adapter and I'm getting a message on my NEC saying "No signal." This is one of the earlier G5 dual 1.8 gig. Does anyone have any idea what the next step would be. I can't use the computer without a monitor and I've checked it out with another NEC monitor I know is working fine and it's doing the same thing.

thanks,

It sounds like you may have a bad card. You may try seating the card by pushing it into the socket, some times the come loose.

You were right, it somehow came loose. I pushed it in (although it seemed all the way in to begin with) and now it works. Thanks.
