Shift J.....won't fill up the whole screen, but not bad.

Almost forgot!...Then I'll use OSX Zoom option/command +......
I have to when I'm using one of my guitars with single coils.

-drag either of them to the soundbites window, or a stereo track directly
-Select the resulting stereo track IMMEDIATELY
-do MERGE AUDIO one last time on the new stereo track (or you'll be sorry!)
-delete the original mono tracks
- - long, but it works
Why not just pan the one mono file Left and the other Right and BTD as a stereo file and let DP import into sequence- automatically creating a new track?

Thanks for the info! Is there a way to replace previous volume info without going to view filter?
You could hold Control & select the old data, then hit delete before Merging in the new data, but I'm not sure that if it will be any faster for you than using the View Filter to hide the stuff you don't want overwritten.
Also, as I followed your instructions, the volume layer had no information until I put some there. Is there a preference that turns that info on to mirror fader placement without an extra step?
I know what you're referring to in PT, and I'm not aware of any way to get it to work _just_ like it does in PT. But I can think of one quick way to do it:

- Set your fader as desired in the mixing board
- Switch to the volume layer on your audio track
- Select the track by clicking on its name along the left.
- Take an automation snapshot (control-', or press the camera icon).
- Choose "All Time", "Selected Tracks", "Current Data Types in Graphic Editor". You could also do this for all tracks at once; if you want to do that, choose All Tracks instead.
- You'll now have an automation point at the fader's current level, with a line extending indefinitely in both directions from it.

The good thing about this method is that you can repeat it quickly by holding the command key as you click on the snapshot icon (this takes a new snapshot that uses your last selected settings without bringing up the dialog), or by pressing command-control-'.

It's not just like PT, but once you get used to this method it'll only be a keystroke or two to get what you want.
"I don't see any method at all, sir."

Thanks! And, yes, this is in the manual on page 58. So, I'm as guilty as anyone about not checking the manual first. Doh!

4) Sends on Master Fader (to insert hardware on the master fader, i.e. mix bus compression/eq)
The inserts are already there. Make sure they are displaying. BTW if you want "sends" not inserts- it may cause a feedback loop when using a master fader- wich is why they aren't available. Maybe you can set up your session using buss track faders as "mini master faders" if you want sends rather than inserts.

Any qualified experienced engineer/musician would rather have the choice of sub fader send feature then be protected as if we were all a bunch of amateurs.

This is what I currently do because DP won't let you have sends (not inserts) on a Master Fader. It's kind of silly though because you set up extra faders when you really shouldn't have to. Analog mixers allow you to do this (Mackies have insert patches on the master bus, so you can patch in mix-bus effects), and doesn't cause a feedback loop - it's just like using sends anywhere else.

Something else I would like to see is Auto Delay Comp for Hardware effects sends......it wouldn't be hard to do at all. When you set up a new send to a new piece of hardware, all DP would have to do is send a "ping tone" to the hardware and measure the time it takes to come back, then DP would know exactly what the delay for that device is - not really any different that calculating the delay for something like a UAD card. Now THAT would be cool.

If you want sends on a master fader, use an Aux instead. Auxes are really "master faders," while Master Faders are really just end-of-chain volume controls. Something to grab when you're in a hurry to get the volume down.

A few people took issue with my comment "Learn the software folks." Reading it back over, I have to admit it sounds like an admonition or something. Sorry about that. It was never my intent to stifle discussion. My real point was that often the things we wish for are already there. The trick is to learn to second-guess the index for those finer points that aren't directly listed there. For instance, if your wish was about colors, and it wasn't listed in the index, you'd go to the sections about setup, or the line-by-line menu explanations.

By all means, post your questions here. I shouldn't have made that comment at all, and I apologize for it. I was just in a hurry, and I didn't read back over it. Sorry!

I'd love for the mixer window to highlight in some way the track I have selected either with the mouse or a control surface. When I select a track now on my control surface, it highlights the track in the track and sequence window but not in the mixing window. This makes it hard to tell what fader I'm working with.

also...

I'd love for an auto-zoom feature in the sequence window. When selecting a track with the mouse or control surface, it would be nice if that track would automatically zoom to a pre-selected zoom setting so I can stop with all this horizontal and vertical zooming every time I want to edit the track. As you select different tracks, it would zoom and unzoom them as you go... I can't stress how many less mouse clicks a day this would save me and my carpal tunnel.

I want DP to adjust my chair automatically when it sees me getting tired. And offer me a drink. Mixed to my specifications, which it should learn in one button-click. And when my wife thinks I've been sitting in front of DP too long, I want DP to mesmerize her and convince her that she totally approves. Oh, and also, I want DP to recommend, then go out and find the software I need for any given project. There are probably other things as well. Like sending birthday cards to my kids. Why won't DP take care of little things like this? After all, it's a computer!

Shooshie you dumbbell !!!

You know Bill Gates scans this site and will steal that idea from us when he buys Avid.

Just fricken great. That means next year I'll have to spring for a Digi Pro Control just to have a wireless link that adjusts my chair from the software.

Or maybe I'll spring for that Herman Miller Tranzport...

I'd like to see the guide grid lines in the piano roll page stick around when I turn off snapping.

I agree. Maybe the grid lines can change color or something so you know from looking at them which grid mode you're working with, but having no grid at all can be annoying.
